It's a good thought but I think if Colombus could get Parayko then they would just do Panarin for him straight up.

St. Louis would never make that trade. Same as Leads should only do UFA for Panarin, St. Louis would never part with a long term asset like Parayko for Panarin either.

I think everybody on this site, including myself, has suggested a variation of Gardiner for Panarin. This weakens our defense though, and not so sure Leafs would be better off making that trade or just running with the corre we have. If we expanded the trade a little to include another defenseman coming back, then it would probably be a very doable trade that could satisfy both teams needs.

Yea I know pretty much every trade on here is a pipe dream but the thing I’m looking at here is a way that Toronto may be able to get a quality d man.

Nice thinking. I actually really enjoy how you put this together. The only potential issue I see is the fact that Parayko is on a good contract for 4 more seasons, every other play mentioned is UFA next year (minus Grundström) . STL could probably ask for a bit more and I’d be ok giving them more in terms of a middle round pick or B prospect and late pick.

This would clearly need a lot of ground work from Dubas. Not every GM has the same swagger in negotiations. Look at how SJ flipped Hoffman. It’s certainly not out of question.

Columbus wouldn’t want gardiner their defense is already amazing they lack offense they would want a ready forward back or futures that could be used as trade bait.
If it happens it’s kapanen Johnsson and a 1st and that’s where I say no as a leafs fan as it’s not worth just 1 year.
