Although I do think the Leafs should re-sign JVR as he is part of the future plans, if they are to deal him, grabbing high quality prospects in return is a must!

It would be JVR and another piece for that return, although it doesn't mean it has to be carrick.

This leaves the Leafs with 3 Dmen to protect (Montour is exempt) and you have a reasonable deal.

The Leafs do a 2 RHD's for 1 RHD deal in Dmen and get a quality future replacement for JVR (although Jones will score less) .

This deal can be done before or after the expn. draft.

The only problems are cap space for the Ducks and the expn. draft issue with Bieksa.
