To LEAFS: HAMILTON

To FLAMES: NYLANDER + CARRICK + 2017 2nd round pick + 2017 (OTT) 2nd round pick

It's going to take a lot to get a top 2 young stud in Hamilton. He is better than Reilly this year.

Thoughts?

I'd be scared to trade Nylander but that's a fair evaluation. I'd probably do it. It's what we need

Burkie already went on a big rant about not moving doug hamilton. Although I would like hamilton in toronto, this price is too much. hamilton doesn't even average 20 minutes a night on the flames but makes 5.75 m a year. Imo, we need a right handed 'Lindholm type player' between Reilly, Gardiner and now zaitsev we have plenty of offence from the back end.

if we are giving that much I would rather try getting Ristolainen out of buffalo

David

Does NYLANDER have great offence? Yes but does he contribute on defence? No. He gives up the puck way too much and doesn't backchek at all. He is only an offence player that doesn't care about helping the team on defence which the Leafs suck at.

The leafs have what.7 rookies who play every night. Of course they suck at defence. Defence is the part of the game that most, if not all, forward rookies have to improve on. Nylander is 20 years old and on pace for 53 points this season. That's nearly as many as buffalos franchise center (and Calder winner), Eichel, last year. Nylander would be the top prospect on a lot of teams. His defence will improve as he gets stronger, faster and gains more experience. Don't be foolish and trade our future. The best thing we can do now is acquire a RHD via free agency, on a contract that ends in 2018/ 2019. This will allow the kids to learn in a more controlled environment and won't affect there new contracts. We have a lot of extra money over the next two years, better believe we'll be using it.
