Kadri, Gardnier, JVR and a 3rd for Nathan MacKinnon, Barrie and a 2nd.

Agreed, it's a bit greedy. Plus do we even have a 3rd before 2019? I'm too lazy to look right now. Drop the 2nd, pick McKinnon OR Barrie, and dangle a package of JVR plus someone like Loov or Valiev or Bracco or whatever. Even so, now that Roy is gone I don't think COL has the same urge to shake things up and shuffle the roster, so doubt those players move anyways.

What advantage does the avs have trading their best player

It's not working for them in Colorado. They are going nowhere and need to shake it up.

At least they got rid of Roy.

Maybe Gardiner and JVR for Mikko Rantanen and Barrie

I agree with lab16, the Avs need a shake up and Lab's trade proposal is pretty doable I think. But maybe the new coach wants to get his feet wet before making sudden big moves for his team. I think this is more of a trade deadline proposal. Just so the new coach can actually assess what he has in his players.

If any Colorado GM made that deal he wouldn't be GM for long. MacKinnon is one of the few untouchables on that team; watching him play at the World Cup shows why. I agree with Lab16 and GinjaNinja.
