I love the subban rumors lol. I highly doubt Nashville would trade him. I know they will lose someone to the expansion draft. I'd rather the leafs trade for Ryan Ellis. How would a trade look? Nashville wouldn't take salary back or a player that needs to be protected.

Ellis trade is not a smart move! All three of them have the potential to be something special in the future! What happens if both Nielson and greenway turn out to be top 4 defenders and Rychel turns out to be the next Lucic type player? It would be another Tuuka Rask trade all over again! JVR trade i like though!

No to trading Neilsen; he has a lot the characteristics we need on the Leafs; size, offence, belligerence, good accurate slap shot.
His game will take time, but he will be more valuable than Ellis.
Greenway showed some talent last September, and he's got size. No to trading him as well.
If we trade JVR to the Peg then we will need a LW to replace him. So you are trading away 2 LW when we have extra RW.
Trouba will leave the Peg before the expn draft or they lose him or Myers for nothing to Vegas. That's not going to happen. Myers is more expensive now, but Trouba will want 6-7 M when he re-signs, given the ridiculous hype surrounding his play.
There are better cheaper options to follow, but I wouldn't give up JVR for him.

Extend komorov to a 4 year deal
Extend JVR to a 5 year deal.
Extend bozak to a 3 year deal
I believe the leafs should be very content with their forward corps. I don't see any team giving vfair value for J VR.

You can experiment with another LW sniper for Kadri because Uncle Leo's skillset make's him good for the 4th line if Boyle doesn't re-sign. Great to have a 4th liner that can play any forward position anywhere in the lineup.
The Leafs should re-sign JVR to a 7 year deal at a good price for the team.
Bozak should be re-signed to a 3 year deal is correct. He's in great shape now but will be 33 at the end of the deal.
Don't bet on Boyle re-signing. He wants to win a cup and the Leafs aren't going to be quite ready, soon enough for him.
Hunwick is cheap and plays good hockey. However, Neilsen and now Dermott are knocking at the door. Maybe in a 7th Dman role for 1 year at 1.4M.

Yup, continuing to make the playoffs, with the core gaining experience.
While slowly trading off the elderly (27 year olds to 30 year olds) to contenders for maxed return during the summer or at the dead lines.
Even better : trading off the excess RW youth for RHD.

With the leafs defence playing the way way they have been. we should sign James weisnewski (sp?). I know we are at the 50 contract limit, but Cowan will be bought out finally. And possibly a trade of a few older vets can make room. Trouba will be a long shot. Although it's not looking good for Winnipeg.

A couple of points. Marner gets his nine games and if he doesn't succeed Brown gets the spot. If Marner does make it, Brown remains on the roster and gets shuffled around lines as I imagine there are certain nights Babcock will sit one of the young guys for screwing up.
Martin on the third line with Matthews?! Are you insane? A little bit but I think he might get slotted there. Babcock said he is going to put Matthews and Nylander together so a veteran LW is needed especially someone who will deter people from taking runs at those two.
Where is Michalek, Greening and Holland? I am hoping they get traded. Greening could be sent to the AHL. Rychel could also be sent down but I think he's ready. I do like Michalek and think he has some value but they have too many LWs. Vesey could be a big signing but he is another LW. JVR could still be traded

Good lineup. Balances the 4 lines appropriately by protecting all the smurfs on the right side.
I especially like you first line; will be fun to watch. I hope all of the right wingers are on the feed & strengthen program.
Too bad Linberg's not ready yet, and Neilson for the RD.

Everyone said the Young guys would get tired but marner a d nylander are both In Top 10 scoring at the world's 12 pts I'm 8 GP for nylander. And 11pts in 8 for marner (playing on the fourth line) . Pretty good I'd say.

So Babcock and lamer we're at the ducks game again. so let's speculate on why. My hopes are
Ducks: Manson, 1 round pick (low 20's)
Leafs rychel, Leipsic, 1round pick (15)
So in my mind this works, for both.
Ducks get two young forward prospects that don't need protection and have a possible upside, and an upgraded 1st round pick to possibly replace Manson in a few years time.

Given that, not too bad a trade 1 exposed Dman for two exposed forwards. I doubt Anaheim would care if one of those two were picked by Vegas.
The problem is still Bieksa. As long as he's in the way, one of the big three D will be exposed.
The best option for the Ducks is to make a large trade prior to the draft clearing out the players they are not prepared to lose for nothing. Many deals have been posted for this already.
