So after last night loss I was thinking that I don’t think that Andersen should be the starter for the future. And I think he’s not a goalie that steals games like Tuukka Rask does. If I’m the Maple leafs and if I’m looking for a goalie to upgrade too, I’m looking at guys like Murray or Lehner but the one goalie I’d keep my eyes one the most is Braden Holtby. Stanley Cup champion, William M. Jennings Trophy winner and a Vezina Trophy winner. This is a guy I would consider to push for him. Listen to this, every person that Lou Lamoriello had signed or traded for has been traded and who’s the only guy left, Freddie Andersen. So if I’m Toronto these are the signings and trades I’d make,

Andersen and two second round picks for Murray and a first and a second

Sign Lehner 4 years 4 million dollars
Sign Holtby 5 years 6-7 million dollars

I just think Toronto not only need to upgrade on defence but goaltending as well.

Holtby has fallen off this year that’s why Washington is not looking to resign him and Lehner probably only has one to two good years left I would target Murray or Georgiev someone young I don’t blame Andersen for last night he can’t stop everything the players in front of him have to show up.

The Leafs aren't getting Murray a 1st and 2nd for that stiff Anderson. Holy Mackinaw.

I don't get what Freddy did that was so bad. he played well all series. They couldn't score. You can't build a team on pure run and gun offence, then not score and blame your goaltender. This team is built to win 6-5 not 1-0.

I think we need help in the string shack. To the Leafs the Goaltender is the first and last line of Defense. Potvin, Joseph, Belfour ETC ETC and that's why we fail.

Pens will want to shed cap as well. not going to take on 5 million for freddy. not to mentione i see Murray wanting more than what freddy was getting paid so we could not afford him anyway.

@LL

For me, it's the fact that he can't stand up and win the big games. He let in a goal in the first six shots in an elimination game, again. Yes, I know it was a Barrie redirection, but in my mind, if he was playing like an elite win-it-all goalie, he would have had it.

But, of course, it was the second goal that was the nail in the coffin. That was a terrible mis-play by Andersen. He should have came out and played the puck, but didn't. That's what gave Foundy the chance to even be able to make that horrible sharp angle shot that went in. No matter how many times I look at it, that second goal was horrible and was the real game loser. The first one we still had a chance. After the second one went in, it was all over.

And that's what's wrong with him as far as I am concerned. He let's in too many soft goals and too many early goals, and doesn't stand up in the big games to steal a win for us when we need it most.

If he could actually steal a game for us, great. But he can't. If anything, he costs us more games than he wins for us. That's not a recipe for success.

I understand the forwards did f-all too. But if we want to win, we need a goalie that can play the big games first. That's most important. To me anyway.
