Lost Bobby McMann for a 2nd. Now he is signed for 6 years at 5.75M. Another guy that plays the right way, forecheck, backcheck, hits, sticks up for teammates and has drive. Given away for a simple 2nd rd pick. One of the few gems they developed within and all for nothing.

Kadri, Hyman, McMann, McCann and everyone is moving Knies in their mock trades. Anyone starting to see a trend here. If you have heart and are a team player don’t come to Toronto because we will trade ya!

I like McMann but liked him at $4 million just because of the Streakiness. The $5.75 is a bit of a overpay I think. I might be proven wrong but that a big number for his resume so far. This shows that the UFA's this year because it is a slimmer year than normal will be getting highter numbers than some anticipate.

They all left for reasons other than what you’re saying but ya, the optics of it I get and I’m frustrated by sequence of events like you are!

It’s hard not to fall in love with your guys, but at the end of the day McMann was a streaky player and really peaked last year. I would argue the Leafs need a tougher version of McMann.

McMann was never really given a fair shake. He would play on every line. Was playing well on top line and one bad game and he went back to the 3rd line. Was given a fair shake in Seattle with half the amount of talent to play with and he looked awesome.

In pains me to say this but..... Treliving did try to sign and extend McMann but his agent had said they wanted north of $5m and as it turns out that is what he got. As I said earlier he may prove to be worth it. But he was not going to get that here so that's why the trade happened. Bottom line was the Leafs had seen the inconsistent side the year previous with that 3 goals in the last 25 games and no goals in the 13 playoff games and deemed he was worth less money. Treliving's fault in the trade was waiting to long.

He had a couple teams ready to offer a 1st round pick, and he waited hoping to add a prospect to the deal, Then Bobby went 4 games straight after the Olympics with 0 goals and the only team left with a offer was Seattle with the 2 round pick. So they snoozed and they lost. In retrospect had they not traded him, he may still have walked and they may have got nothing or they may have got a 4th or 5th round pick to do a sign and trade at end of season. No matter which way it was not going to end with him being a Leaf going into 2026-2027.

@suffering all I saw is resume for McMann. Very short eh? Kinda like... Raddysh? Idk, guys are we seeing a trend for real? Like the Knies thing is concerning, but some of the returns if it happened only on a couple. I could see and understand, but I agree if u play right and hard with passion your gone! Idk, it's worrisome.

Treliving was apparently trying to re-sign McMann right up to pretty much when he traded him, but McMann's camp wouldn't come off their demand of $5M+. By then, the reported 1sts were off table and a 2nd and 4th was best offer.

That said, why still discussing Treliving. He's gone. Move on. Stop beating a dead horse. Or is he on the approved discussion list of which ex-Leaf(player or management) can be continued to be discussed? lol.
