NYI gets a goal scorer in Nylander and a lesser replacement on the RD for the loss of Dobson by getting Liljegren. Robertson adds another offensive potential.

Leafs get a cost controlled RD they crave. A vet 3C in Cizikas, a bottom 6 big man in Gauthier and a good power forward prospect in Dufour. Leafs get some cap savings.

I know I and others have thrown out similar to this, but this is a little different.

I like it and looks pretty fair. Would be nice to get a Dobson. We are running out of time. Hate adding big pieces mid season.

@RLF. I like the targets. but is Dobson the kinda d we need? . not complaining as I've wanted to trade for him myself. I guess as a starting point going forward next year once klingberg comes off the books.

@Loxley. Dobson is the type of D talent you get if you can imo. Good size, offence is already there at 23. Defence usually takes a little longer to develop. Rielly and Dobson as the top pair for years to come looks good to me. Dobson is has lots of RFa years left which is a big bonus.

RLF, I think that you are on the right track, but Lou doesn't like big trades.
He will wait till the last minute and then pull off a deal like three days before the season starts.

I think Lou wants Nylander but is struggling with the money,
In order for Lou to trade for Willy and maybe others for cap purposes he will have too.

That being said I believe that Lou will call Treliving and proposal this trade,

Toronto trades Nylander and Llyigren
To
New York Islanders for
Dobson, Walstrom, Pageau and a 2nd in 2025

I know we don't want Pageau so Toronto could flip him for picks
Just my thoughts.

Love the idea od adding Dobson. I'd even add more to get him. He's the replacement for Mo in a few years.

@PG. Leafs can't absorb another $1.5M in cap hit is the problem with your prop. I also don't think the Isle add in Wahlstrom as well. Yes, you can try and move Pageau, but he has a 16 team no trade and I would bet he has bottom feeders on his list. Take out Wahlstrom and I think your deal is pretty good value wise.

In my scenario, both teams send down their extras and are cap compliant.

Pageau wouldn’t be so bad if you could find a third team to retain some of that salary but 5M+ is a bit much.
