The Jets will not trade the 2nd pick to Toronto. They'd be idiots to. That being said, if I was the Leafs I'd try to trade down to get A. Nylander. We could have what the Nucks have had with the Sedins, plus you'd have Matthews/ Stammer (if they can sign him) in the middle.
Trade with Calgary for the 6th pick:
To Calgary: JVR, 56th pick
To Toronto: 6th pick, 35th pick
The Flames get a great player on a good contract. Leafs draft Nylander and move up from the 56th pick to the 35th and could draft Lucas Johansen or Libor Hajek.
Leafs draft Matthews, Nylander, Tufte, Gustavsson, Johanson/ Hajek, Bunnaman, Green, Fitzpatrick, Hagel, Hall, Dahlen, Bjorkqvist, Zhuldikov, Asetov, Maltsev.
Leafs sign Stammer, Vesey, Russell

Leafs could trade Lupul to Arizona for a 3rd or 4th. Arizona needs to get to the cap floor so they can use the cap. Then they could place in Hyman or Brown and use Greening as a substitute for injured players.

@nylandermagic, you think the Leafs need aggressive players? Like a Lucic and a Maroon? Cause that worked out perfectly for Edmonton. The league is changing and the more skilled your team is the better it is, look at how the Leafs have played without Martin compared to how they played with him .

Jimmy he said 3rd ROUND pick not the 3rd overall pick. So it's a decent offer but I'd rather the Leafs moved the Caps 2nd over ours. Especially with Leivo in there. So it'd be Gardiner, Leivo, and Caps 2nd for Trouba and Jets 3rd, that'd be a more fair offer for both teams.

I can see the Leafs offering a 2nd for him or two picks like a 3rd and a 4th and a prospect like Percy or Leivo. Otherwise I don't see them giving up much more than that.

In my opinion Kapanen doesn't look like he will be a top 6 forward. Probably a bottom 6 player and that's why people will add him as a plus to push a trade through. Honestly, I don't think Kapanen will be anything special, he doesn't seem to have the drive and heart that players like Nylander and Marner have. And don't say that it's because he's not as skilled as the other two, he has the skills and he's proved that but the motivation isn't where it needs to be, players like Hyman may not have the skill but they have a ton of motivation and heart, that's why I see players like Hyman, Brown, and Soshnikov being more successful than Kapanen.
