Why would the Leafs make this trade at any price never mind the ludicrous price that you mentioned above. Have you ever seen Cole play, the guy sucks and he is not better than Borgman, maybe at the start of the season, but our Cyborg has improved enough already to surpass Cole, it doesn't take much, plus Cyborg is only 22. Let me put it this way never going to happen.

Not either player the Leafs need. The Leafs are stacked beyond their eyeballs with L. Wingers and their prospect pool has more of LHD men then they do right handed, which basically consists of Liljegren so why would the Leafs be going after either of the two. OEL is being paid $6.5 mill this season and his salary goes up to $7 mill next season, that's his last season before UFA and he's looking for a raise on to that $ value on a long term contract as in the range of 7 years. When they have Rielly who is becoming just as good or will be better at $5 mill/ yr for the next 5 years. No this is a dumb trade, trade away our best prospect and a no.1 pick in the best draft in recent memory for two position that are not needed. Forget OEL the Leafs don't need him.

They do need scoring look at their GF, the Canes can easily afford JVR if they are trading Faulk, his salary out of pocket for the Canes is $6 mill/ yr for the last two years and already he is costing them $5.75 mill/ yr this season with the bonus he earned in his first two seasons, it's just the way his contract is set up ($5.5+$.25 mill from year 1 and 2)they don't care about the cap hit which is less at $4.83 for Faulk it was set up this way just because it's easier to trade him to teams who are close to the cap which the Canes are not. They have young D man who are ready to step in and are a lot cheaper and the salary for JVR which will be around $5.5 to $5.75 mill/ yr is still less than what Faulk is costing them now and as I said they don't need him or his contract, but they end up with a guy that will score 30+ goals for them up front they need and the whole transaction is a wash, their salary does not even go up and they acquire a 30+ goal scorer in his prime, and he'll sign with the Canes his brother is on the team and they are very close he may even give them a Broad. Discount.

I would love to have Faulk, but let's not get carried away. To Canes= JVR + Leivo + lower end prospect, no picks, I don't like giving picks away if anything a 7th round pick instead of lower end prospect, Canes can choose which. This makes both teams better now and in the long run. Good chance Canes will be able to resign JVR because of his brother being there and I believe he may sign for less with them then anywhere else because of TVR.
