One hockey website got things buzzing with a post saying
Nylander to New York Islanders with Pageau being a part of it.
Another Toronto hockey website is losing their minds of a Nylander for pageau trade
Heres how it could look
To N.Y Islanders
Nylander
To Toronto
Noah Dobson
Oliver wahlstrom
Jg pageau
$7 million out $10(almost) back, in the hole for $3 million ( not including the present salary issue, which LTIR and a few ahl demotions)
Pageau would have to be traded, with a good pick 1st and or a good prospect Robertson?l, Walhstrom?
Anaheim has over $16 million in space,
That would give Leafs cap space $2-3 million
In Dobson uoh have a right d man who has put up descent numbers the last couple years
Wahlstrom 3rd or 4 th line young big, could be moved
Sign Tyler Motto to a pto, 4th line??
Play around with the forward lines and defense
Try to land a third pairing tough d man if possible
Brodie, Klingburg,Gio, bert, domi, lafferty, gambrell all free agents after this years lits of deadine power

I don't see why we have any interest in Pageau. A trade around Dobson for Nylander (maybe Liljegren) is all we should be looking at. If they need to unload Pageau to facilitate Nylander, that's on them.

Teams can't just say a guy is injured if he isn't and teams can't put him on LTIR if he would be cleared to play. Robidas Island got blown way out of proportion.

Concussion symptoms are very hard for a doctor to define.
If the player is onboard with the narrative (and Murray appears to be) then the player merely needs to say he is still suffering from headaches and dizziness and there is little the medical practitioners can say!

Marner isn't going anywhere, NTMC, same as Tavaris.
Best hope in trading Marner is to wait until trade deadline, tell him isn't going to resigned, get a list of teams he wants to go to ( hopefully in a playoff race) or let iim walk and get the cap space, same with Tavaris, that's a lot of cap space.
The player I'd move is Morgan Rielly, we need someone who has a bomb for a shot, on the point/ power play. But I'm sure he has a no moce clause also.
This year, sign defencemen and a goalie next year fill in the forwards,

I don't think anyone said he can't be put on LTIR. Myself and others said you can't just put him LTIR to hide his cap hit. If he's on LTIR, it is because the Leafs can show he is injured. No one said that can't happen.

As RLF said, I always figured it was a possibility, but you can't just say players are injured when they aren't. None of us are privy to personal situations within the organization, so we could only go based on him being a backup in the playoffs.
3 players in the minors should actually do it I think. Timmins to the AHL leaves 1m over the cap.
Aho is a top line centre. They always get paid more, as they're far more valuable. Aho also plays well in his own end. I don't think Tree is wrong, Nylander should be making 8.5/ 8 on this team, but I also don't think Willy is wrong. If the cap jumps next year, someone will give him 80 million as they need scoring.

@LL I think Timmins gets claimed off waivers if we try to send him down. Would rather trade him and get something. I personally think Jarnkrok should get traded for a draft pick. I believe with him traded, the Leafs open up enough cap space for a 22 man roster.

It really only makes a difference on long road trips, but even then it doesn't matter much. I'd rather run a 20 man roster all year and then see what happens next year.
Bert, Domi, Brodie, Gio, Samsonov and Willy are just a few coming off the roster next year. I'd be happy to wait it out.

@LL I think it does matter in the case of Giordano. Having only 6D on the roster and expecting him to play a whole season is concerning to me.
I think we definitely need at least a 21 man roster with 7D at all times.

Now all we need to do is move on from Willy. there has to be a 20 or 25 goal scorer we could add to the top six that can help replace part of what Willy does maybe someone like a Troy Terry or something. and then maybe go out and add to the D. even someone like Dumba. this D really worries me. of course my ultimate target would be for Konecny. send Willy and Brodie to philly for Konecny and Walker (50% retained) and then see what DUmba wants. hopefully sign 1 year cheaper deal.
