Leafs trade Nylander, Hyman
Chicago trades Boqvist, Saad

Same as Nylander for Timmins or Makar, Boqvist is an elite RHD prospect. Ranked as top 3 RHD prospect players and only 17 years of age, this kid has all the tools necessary to enter the league as a dominant defenseman for many years to come.

Hyman for Saad has to be included to balance salaries.

I like defensive prospects, Liljgren, Hiskanen, Bouchard, Boqvist, I like all of them, but I think if the leafs do trade Nylander it will be for a ready now to 2 RHD like Parayko, Montour, Trouba (ok maybe not him) . I like how you target young players, but leafs already have Liljgren, Rielly, Sandin, Dermott, and a huge depth of top 6 d who already make up the leafs future, I wouldn't mid getting more, but I think if the leafs trade Nylader it will be for a ready now defenceman.

Excellent response. I don’t necessarily like the idea of trading Nylander for a prospect, no matter how good, but as Jodes pointed out earlier, something’s got to give. I myself have been saying we need to keep a fluid and low cost back end in order to support our high prices forward core. Trading for someone proven 1RHD is probably going to cost us more than just Nylander and salary will be about same as Nylander.

Nylander is an excellent winger and likely to bring a high return. Leafs most glaring need is 1RHD, and trading Nylander is our quickest way to obtaining said defenseman. Whether we trade for a young up and comer or someone who has experience is a question that only management can decide based on finances and player availability I suppose.

Top 10 teams excluding leafs spending 32 percent of cap on defence. 10 on goaliEs

Looks like leafs plan is 67 percent on forwards. 24 on defence. Balance on goalies

If u look at 2019-20, implies $19m roughly on defence

Can do it for under 19

$53 for forwards. Nylander gone leaves big 3 plus Kadri at maybe $35? Higher?

$18m left for 8 forwards. There is the question mark. Who / how.

Nylander is a Leaf thus far, but something needs to give? Either Nylander's agent is arrogantly and selfishly narrow-minded due to his horse - blinders or William is passively relying on the later. The irony for Nylander and Maple Leafs in all of this is money, and perhaps term, they both want something for more or less depending which end of the glass you're looking from.

I've been reading some rather negative things about Saad's attitude lately and would not be interested in seeing him in a Leaf jersey.
Boquist probably isn't ever going to be traded by Chicago. They do have another RHD that might interest theLeafs as part of a package.
Henri Jokiharou would look great on the Leafs defense next year along with
Liljegren.
