So I've been purposing this same trade with Gardiner but I read an article last night and this year Winnipeg has about 8 players to sign the two notables are Trouba and Morrisey. Trouba wants 7mil avv and I'm sure Morrisey wants atleast 5.5 next year they have to pay their forwards wheeler Laine and connors so in my opinion is they get a good young player with a cheap contract and free up some space. The leafs have so much depth on the wings I don't think this trade would affect them a hole lot

Winnepeg has enough RW already, if this was for Pesce on Carolina, it’s accepted, but Jets don’t need more wingers, they need to upgrade their center.

That is true but Kapanen is better than their 3-4 RW I think with them missing out on Stastny they will want to add a bit of offense and Kapanen can play the pk as well.

No thanks. Zero need for wingers. We have wingers as good or better than Kapanen playing in the AHL.

Well I guess he's not technically in the AHL yet, but Vesalainen if we want to add some scoring.

Plus Lemieux and Petan if we want role players.

Sorry, no trade to be made with a winger for a D man.

He's got to be a Jets fan, and is likely referring to Appleton and Lemieux. Them being better than Kapanen is arguable, but the Jets have some really solid prospects.

Ye think Pickard + 4th or 5th for Petan would fly? Seems like Petan's stock is low and he could use a fresh start.

That could be a possibility. I just don't have a read on what the Jets are planning on doing for a backup.

Can't we just wait until you have to waive Pickard later in the summer?

Well bottom line here is the leafs should purpose a trade to Winnipeg because they will listen due to the fact that if they don’t move someone they will lose someone for nothing.

Picard signed an ahl contract as long as we don't call him up he can be assigned to the minors without being claimed I believe.

Pickard isn't exempt from waivers. His waiver status depends on his age, games played on seasons accrued. He's on an NHL deal.

@memarcusjoe yeah that's the trouble with good goaltending depth I suppose, tough to stop em from getting poached.
