To LEAFS: Ryan Pulock, Mathew Barzal

To ISLES: JVR, Jeremy Bracco, 2017 1st rounder

Sign Cody Franson as UFA.

We're not getting a top 4 d man here but Pulock has great potential to become one. We'll send barzal down to the marlins for a year and he can replace Bozak when his contract is up. Keep Willy and Matthews chemistry going and if Barzal doesn't work out first year, switch willy and Barzal around.

D Lines next year:

Rielly-Franson
Gardiner-Zaitsev
Dermott-Pulock

Not huge names but great depth.

Massive overpayment by the Leafs. Seriously?

Just a stupid proposal.

How's this an overpayment? We're trading away an older rental player. JVR only has a year left on his contract and he's a winger. Branco shows potential but again he's a little winger. Our first rounder is a plaid pick in a weak draft. We're trading for a future top 4 young RHD and also a young centetmen who also aren't cheap. Barzal will be a poor mans top line centre one day. An amazing second line centre. Don't see where the overpayment is.

Hey I like it, although it does seem like a bit of an overpayment to me. I think that deal can be done with Leipsic rather than Bracco.

JVR is not a rental. If they choose to not want to re-sign him or if he does not want to sign with them, they can then flip him at the deadline and whatever team takes him then, he'll be a rental. A full year is not a rental.

Therefore, massive overpayment!

I agree with Torontobuds. I do not consider JVR a rental players when you can trade him at the dead line. When you think about it. If Martin Hanzal basically got 1st and 2nd last year from the Wild, what do you think JVR could get? Compare their stats and you will see JVR would bring a lot more in a trade than Hanzal.

GP G A Pts +/ - PIM

Martin Hanzal 71 20 19 39 -17 53
JV Riemsdyk 82 29 33 62 -2 37

The only thing Hanzal has over JVR is he plays center.

MarquesMen, So to me, your trade looks like

To LEAFS: Ryan Pulock, Mathew Barzal

To ISLES: Jeremy Bracco, 2017 1st rounder plus more than 1st and 2nd round picks (that Hanzal went for year year) .

I think that’s an overpayment.

@Marquesman

You massively undervalue JVR (even as a rental)

Pulock can't make it on the Isles after 3 years. Not that he's had a fair chance given their depth.

And while I think Barzal is a talent, look at his WHL numbers; they are not that high (good playoff though) .

Bracco fits into that discussion we all had last year as to whether he can play in the NHL due to his size. His point production is the same as Barzal's; so where is the upgrade. Barzal is a center or RW and Bracco is a RW.

Bracco led his team and Barzal was 2nd on his and had some pretty substantial help in Gropp, Bear and Kolesar; while Bracco only had Luchuk and Vilardi.

Leipsic's junior numbers are vastly superior to either player, and his AHL numbers are pretty damm good, so no way he's a replacement for Bracco.

JVR will net a 5-7 year deal and will be productive throughout that deal. It just depends on where JVR wants to go. As a rental, he's worth double what Hanzal got.

I would make the deal:

TOR: JVR, Justin Holl, cond. 2nd 2018 (if JVR doesn't re-sign)

NYI: Barzal, Pulock, 2017 1st

Holl is just a D going back.
