should the Leafs keep JVR?

If not at the deadline:

To LEAFS: P.MYERS (RD) + G.RUBSTOV (C) + 2017 2nd round pick

To FLYERS: JVR (LW)

FLYERS: They desperately want to win and don't want to be a maybe wild card team. And former FLYER JVR fills their needs.

LEAFS: MYERS is 6"5 RD and RUBSTOV is 6"2 and both fills the leafs need in a good centre and Right handed d prospects.

Thoughts?

Sorry not deadline. The draft I meant.

Not bad, but then the Leafs have a hole at LW.

That's garbage for JVR.

Myers 0 NHL games; 0 AHL games; middling Dman - no thanks, might not even make the NHL.

Rubstov 0NHL games; 0 AHL games; 0 KHL points - no thanks, Sosh had 28 pts in the AHL last year, 32 points in the KHL. Rubstov is low end.

And a 2nd rounder?

Not even close.

Get your stats right. Both of these guys are doing really good in qmjhl. Myers has 28 points in 30 games and RUBSTOV has 22 points in 16 games.
So your saying BRACCO might not even make the NHL? Because he has 0NHL and 0AHL games?
You are trashing Young players already saying they won't even make the NHL?
What do you want? JVR for Mcdavid and a 1st?

The Leafs will see what it will take to re-sign JVR this off season and if the price is too high, they'll look to trade him. The best trade partner's are Anaheim, NYI, Minn, Wash, WNG and Nash.

The package is 3 pieces, a top prospect and 1st plus another piece depending on quality of top prospect. Or roster player and possibly something.

Best possible trades

To TOR: F - M. Jones + D - B. Montour + 2018 1st round pick

or

To TOR: F - M. Dal Colle + D - R. Pulock + 2018 1st round pick

or

To TOR: D - M. Dumba + 2018 2nd round pick

or

To TOR: D - M. Bowey + 2018 1st round pick + 2019 2nd round pick

or

To TOR: LW - K. Conner + D - L. Green + 2018 1st round pick

or

To TOR: D - D. Fabbro + 2018 1st round pick + 2019 2nd round pick.

Do you even get the process in making the NHL? Or do you just talk? Young prospects in their 18-20s can't all make the NHL they have to DEVELOPE! In order to grow and be an NHLer something you don't know.

Lab said 'he may not make the NHL'. Which is true, you guys always grade players so high and assume their skills will carry over to the NHL. You're example, Bracco, has never played hockey against men. He's smaller than Marner. He could turn out to be great in NHL, maybe he never finds his game at the AHL, we don't know. In your trade we're giving up an elite NHL LW for players we don't even know will make our roster. Lab is right, this is garbage.

I think the trade is ok, for a LW of JvR caliber though you would want something solid, a roster player to help. I like both prospects and think trading for potential isn't a bad thing, as long as you get something you can use with that potential. Seeing as how potential is not a guarantee. I would say make that pick a 1st rounder and it's a deal, at least you got 3 young pieces to see what may happen.

@Cheese

1) The GP stats above are dead on correct. If you don't know the difference between games played and scoring stats, I can't help you. Sosh's scoring stats are dead on correct and make the point clearly, to which you just ignore or don't understand. Rubtsov did squat in the KHL, and mediocre in the MHL.

2) Myers currently sits 35th in scoring among Q Dmen. I don't even want to bother to look at where he sits in the CHL as a whole. You think that's doing well for a behemoth playing among boys? It's even too small a sample size to judge how well he will do over a whole season. He was passed over by 30 GM's including the one that eventually gave him a tryout and signed him with "nothing to lose". There are scores of similar CHL Dmen who get to the AHL and fail, let alone the NHL.

3) My prediction is that Myers will be nothing better than a 3rd pair Dman at best. That's not something you trade an elite like JVR for. All the best for him (I believe he's still injured), but he's clearly not the next Chris Pronger.

4) German currently sits 133rd in the Q among forwards. However by PPG he sits 12th, not bad, but nothing special, especially for such a small sample of games in the run and gun QMJHL where defence takes a back seat to brawls and wide open scoring.

5) Bracco is a play maker and a sniper at the OHL level, but the rest of his game is what determines whether he makes the NHL or not. He has his lack of size against him, and he hasn't even made the AHL yet.
But he's got some consistent, serious talent and will move up to the AHL next season. He led the league for quite some time at the beginning of the year. But NONE of that guarantees him a trip to the NHL.

6) Neither Myers nor Rubtsov (Rub) have a body of work that is large enough to determine their future worth. A small sample of games proves only that they haven't played enough and that's alarming at their age.

Rub cold be good or could be a 1st round bust (see Yakapov, Patrik Stephan, Scott Scissons, Brian Lawton, Hugh Jessiman, everyone's favorite poster boy "Alexander Daige" and a massive list of other lower 1st round failures; including near the slot at where Rub was picked (Example Tyler Biggs; a big winger, 22nd OA in 2011 now playing in the ECHL; never making the NHL, not even one game. ) . And all of them had a better track record than Rub.

7) Take a look at TO Bud's list of deals; all better deals than your deal; where your deal is clearly not good enough of a return for JVR, hence a "garbage deal".

I don't know if the Leafs want to wait for NCAA Fabbro though. Note: the Minny deal might be a little light considering what they gave up for Hanzal; a player no better than Bozak whom everyone thinks is worth a 2nd at best.

8) The same deal has been posted repeatedly by others for over half a year, in various forms, and it hasn't gained any traction. The deal isn't good enough for JVR; and the Leafs and Flyers just don't make good trading partners. The Leafs and Flyers haven't made a deal since we burned them to get JVR (5 years ago) . Pushing a deal with the Flyers is just a useless waste of time.
