Tor- Nylander, Pits 1st 2016
Win- 2nd overall

Toronto will have a surplus at center after they take Matthews and that's where Nylander wants to play. Matthews is going to be our #1 and Kadri #2.

Tor- JVR
TB- Vasilevski

JVR is a great scoring winger on a good contract that will make TB losing Stamkos hurt a little less. Bishop has multiple Vezina nominations and is their #1 goalie.

As much as I want Laine, I don't think giving up nylander would be a good idea. Nylander can both score and create plays. Plus I don't think winnipeg would be interested in another center. They're looking to fill inthe LW. I think packaging jvr with picks for 2ov and picks/prospects could work out for both teams.

i don't think trading nylandwr would be a good idea. He's young and he can both score and create plays. Personally I would try to package and move jvr for the 2nd overall for laine or for a pick that would get us tkachuck. We lack a true number 1/2 LW prospect and I think getting laine aswell ( or tkachuck would help.

A couple thoughts. First, I doubt WIN has any interest in moving the 2 pick. Not for a return like that anyways. Nylander is still a few seasons away from being a complete NHL player, and Winnipeg needs to improve immediately. To make that trade work, you'd probably have to add JVR and possibly another pick. That's too much for the leafs to give up. Second, I still stand by the opinion that we won't and should not be looking to address our crease this year. There's several decent goalies coming up on UFA next summer, plus a possible expansion draft, so at this point patience is the Leafs best strategy. Furthermore, Bishop is one of those goalies coming up on UFA, so I think Tampa retains Vasilevsky in case they can't work a deal they like with Bishop.

Couldn't agree more GinjaNinja. I would add addressing our goalie and D needs when the expansion draft forces certain teams to deal from a position of weakness. That and the fact we need one more year of drafting high to make the rebuild a success; a good goalie would impede our ability to draft high.

Y in hell would we consider that trade? When we can sign Stamkos ( similar type of players. Only Stamkos miles ahead) and keep Nylander, all at the same time?
That's the kind of deal, both sides wouldn't do

Maluko. get this into your head. Stamkos is staying in Tampa. period. Take him out of your plans for the Leafs. not going to happen.

JVR is too much to give up for a goalie right now. market will have goalies going cheap once expansion is known.
