I do like the idea of Kreider

To TOR: LW - C. Kreider + F - M. Beleskey + D - A. McQuaid

To NYR: F - C. Brown + F - N. Horton + F - D. Timashov + 2020 2nd* + 2021 3rd**

*improves to a 1st if Toronto wins the cup

I like this idea. rangers have money so hortons contract may not be a big issue.

The Leafs can even trade away Beleskey in the offseason by adding a pick or prospect.

will everybody forget about horton - his contract means nothing as long as he is on LTIR. We don't have the cap to add all 3 and only loose Brown and we have to keep room for bonus money so its not added to next years cap.
Trades today will involve money in money out (horton is already out)

16 is absolutely correct. Horton is permanent LTIR and does not count against the Leafs cap, ever, even in the off season. It’s like he doesn’t even exist.

Hayes went for a 2nd + Lemieux. got to figure Kreider is worth at least that (maybe more cause of the extra year), so let’s say Kreider is the 2nd + Brown. That leaves Timashov + 3rd for Belesky + McQuaid, which might actually be a bit of an overpayment, what with Belesky being over 30 and not even playing in the nhl. I think we would have a very difficult time trading him in the off season.
