I really think the leafs should have taken tokarski from waivers but what would it take to get him now
Also I think the leafs should target someone like borowieki (spelling?) from Ottawa maybe do a package of
Bozak, Polak
Turris, borowieki
For starters I still think the leafs may need to add something maybe Leivo and then Ottawa adds a 4th or 5th

Gives the leafs two high picks in this draft which would end up being 2 of strome, marner or hanifin a young defender and a cap dump that will most likely put up 20-30 pts per year on a second/third line role and whose contract will end when a lot of young guys will need to be signed and a 2nd in a later year
This can also open up a phoned for orielly whatever needs to be added to make it work and put bozak on the second line

With the sens having to resign stone Hoffman zibbanejad pageu knowing they are a budget team why not try something like this
Leafs trade JVR, prospect
Sens trade Turris Borowiecki Lehner and legwand(dump)
Gives ottawa a top flight net presence guy to play with the top lines and a prospect not sure who it could be or if needed
Gives toronto a 2 way forward who can play top line minutes a solid bottom pairing dman with potential and good contract And another shot at a goalie who could be a number 1 in a couple years legwand gives the sens a bit more room to work with Melnyks imposed cap
This then opens the way for bozak or kadri to be moved or keep depth at center and you can now move either bernier or riemer is like to keep bernier I think he has better upside than riemer and a duo of lehner and bernier could be good

Would this work or would value need to be added I think this gives the leafs a great pair of dman in rielly and larsson while would have to sign larsson to something in the 3-4 mil per season over 2 years bridge deal
The second round picks kinda work out for whichever team finishes better

This kind of proposition may entice a team at or near the cap my idea would be to Chicago
Leafs trade phaneuf, Horton and a prospect maybe like Biggs
Chicago trades seabrook and shaw
This moves phanuef where he can feed off great leaders on a team and play with a legit top pairing dman gives cap relief with horrors salary on ltir and a fringe 4th player that's cheap
Gives the leafs a solid rh dman to play top minutes with Rielly and shaw a 2/3rd line guy who plays hard very shift

I believe the second line next year will look like this

Who knows what the 1st line will look like but that kinda opens the door for either bozak, kadri and lupul to be moved. Their value may not be high individually but if you package one with JVR and try to bring in a young leader into the leafs system that could work maybe target some one like Landeskog or similar other parts may have to be included from either side to make it work.
On defence we are paying too much for lower paring dmen I think we're stuck with robidas but Polak and possibly gardiner could be moved. Have Reilly play top minutes and let marincin and hunwick/Brennan play bottom pair

I don't mind The personnel in the trades I don't think think marner would be in the lineup with everyone preaching patience and I doubt you get a first this draft and a second from LA in that deal if anything you get just a 2016 1st or a 2015 2nd and 2015 3rd if they have it

Hey I think with the LA trade taking Richards back is a bad idea a near 6mil/yr third line center I would give phaneuf until the deadline see what he can do with Babcock at the helm with a better system if no improvement trade him for draft picks and prospects and I'm not sure Carolina gives up the 5th overall for what is offered and instead of franson who I doubt will resign in Toronto is go for Oduya

I don't think EDM would be interested in kessel I think something like this would have to include a dman from the leafs something like
Leafs phanuef, bernier(resign 4per/4yr), komarov (14mil total)
EDM RNH, lander, nikitin (11.5mil total)
Resign amount just a guess
