Only problem with this trade is I’d think they would want marner for setting up kempe.

Goat. Interesting. I saw it as Marner being an upgrade on Kempe and LA has hardly any right handed forwards, so this also gives the edge in value to the Leafs.

Great deal for the Leafs.
For LA?
Not so much.
I agree with Goat2.0 that LA would want Marner and Kempe on the same line.

They will be making some bug moves in LA I'm sure. They're kind of on the Leafs path right now, just in a different conference. Good prop.

@rfl I guess you got to look at where their scoring comes from I think LA is a good target I just don’t see them moving kempe tbh and I could be wrong idk.

Maybe I'm missing something here then with Kempe and scoring. This is what I see.

Marner and Kempe are the same age and entered the League at the same time.
Marner -576GP 194G 445A 639pts
Kempe -549Gp 159G 169A 328Pts

Marner has more goals, almost 3X the assists and almost twice the total points of Kempe and LA will miss Kempe's scoring too much to make the deal for Marner? Add to that they need some right handed forwards and Marner gives them a top line one.

Byfield has been playing LW mostly. Wouldn't Kopitar with Byfield and Marner be appealing?

I'm sure they would like to have both Marner and Kempe, but you have to give to get. They are not trading Byfield or Clarke likely for Marner. Leafs probably don't want Fiala as much. Kings would also need to move some cap to fit Marner. If it isn't Kempe, then what/ who is the deal based on that makes sense for both teams?
