Leafs trade Samsonov
Oilers trade Skinner 1st round pick 2024

If I'm leafs I'm looking draft picks where I can find them. Woll has the leaf net and I would take Skinner for the oilers 1st round pick.

If Skinner can be serviceable backup for Leafs it's a bonus if he is a dud the leafs could buy him out at end of season and you could recall Jones this year and put Skinner with Marlies.

Oilers have 7.6 million invested in two goalies that can't stop a beach ball they can't continue this charade much longer. If Samsonov doesn't perform well they are free of him at seasons end and can look another goalie

Leafslife do you actually believe skinner is a good goalie ?

He can't even stake claim to number 1 status with Oilers and Campbell isn't stopping very much

No one can take on the Campbell contract it's too much term and money. So the only way you upgrade the goaltending is by moving Skinner.

This is ridiculous…skinner is arguably as good or better and you’re adding a 1st rounder. Have you watched any of Samsonov’s starts? He isn’t an upgrade.

David, firstly the Sammy's cap hit doesn't work for the Oilers as they only have 384 000 in cap space. Skinner was a flash in the pan and while he may become a decent goalie someday he isn't that now or will be in the next couple of years. I am all for trading Samsonov and ready for the Leafs to bring up Jones to ride out the season or see who gets put on waivers but I doubt anyone would give a player and a 1st rd pick for Samsonov. I remember Ovi calling him out in an interview a couple of years ago while Sammy was with the Caps, Ovi flat out called him a sieve. The biggest need the Leafs need right now are actual defensive defencemen and a new coach.

@DM I know he's 24, cheap contract and had a fantasric rookie campaign. Goalies are really up and down, and the Oilers look like they're out for a morning skate most games right now.

I wouldn't blame Soup or Skinner for anything happening to them.
