Still think Risto would fit well into the leafs system. He can be physical and poses an offensive threat.

Tor
Kappy

Buff
Ristolainen
Straight up

Kappy is a luxury we don't need and Buf is done and have been wanting to trade Risto anyways. Leafs should vary much so consider packaging Barrie and Dermott for another RHD aswell as if Muzzin re signs and Sandin is the future Dermott is expandable and Barrie is complete ass
Maybe

Tor
Barrie, Dermott and Johnson

Ana
Manson

Soup comes back and we ok on the LW keep Rielly out till play offs to be cap compliant and D looks like this

Rielly Manson
Muzzin Ristolainen
Sandin Holl

Anaheim doesn't want Barrie and even if they do that's a massive overpay.

I would be ok with Risto as well but not sure about that price. Probably a bit to much but debatable.

Really an over pay? Figured peeps would be ripping it up as not enough as everyone in the media seems to over value manson. At this point the need for a capable RHD especially with term is of the up most importance to this team hands down. I don't see Johnny or dermotts ceiling any higher then what we see now and I threw barrie inn literally to get rid of him and have a temporary replacement for manson and who knows maybe they would re sign him as they are looking for speed and offense.

Good post
If leafslife the ducks don’t want Barrie. Flip him back to the avs for a prospect or a 2nd Or to the jets for a prospect or 2nd.

Manson isn't the savior people seem to think he is. He is better than Barrie I'm sure (my feelings about Barrie have been clear since the trade) and having another physical presence would be nice but Anaheim loves the guy so you need to overpay and he really isn't all everyone thinks he is.

The Risto trade is more they probably want a huge payday on him or he would have been moved already.

Virtually every analyst I’ve read seems to think Manson is worth a pick at best. And not a 1st either. I’m talking like a 3rd at most. It’s probably an overlay for Risto too. Especially since Buffalo wants to dump him so bad. He’s just more of the same anyway. Another offensive defenseman that can’t play defense. If you think Barrie is bad, you will be hating on Risto a lot more. That Olofsaon fellow is looking fantastic though. Would love to see him on the Leafs. He gets my vote for the Calder trophy. Even though Makar or Hughes will probably get it.

It is an overpayment of value for Manson, but also don't see the Ducks trading for Barrie unless they want to flip him.

Apparently that cap loophole has only been used once, by Chicago with Kane the one year. Very iffy the Leafs try to do the same when the playoff race is so tight. We absolutely need Reilly to be playing again as soon as he can. If Dubas tried to take advantage of the situation and leave Reilly out and bring in someone to put us over the top, only to miss the playoffs, he would be gone. No doubt about it. Dubas is too conservative to risk going all in on a move like that.

Risto is a great target considering you are also ridding Barrie and getting something back for him. Posters seem to forget how weak we are on the right side.
Adding these two gives this team a total different look on our D core while adding players that own that muscle/ edge/ grit on the backend that is and shouldd be welcomed. I don't care if they are a little slower footed, these types slow down the opposition at the same time and are each role players in their own right and we still have a pletora of players with speed to keep the balance that should of been there in the first place. I dig the trade scenario and the approach.

I like the deal for Risto although I’d swap kapanen with Johnsson and add something to it. I think I’d feel a lot better knowing there’s not as great of a chance of Johnsson coming back and destroying the leafs kappy could do that lol.

Manson has 6 points. 6. That’s it. Barrie has one less goal than Manson has points. He has 84 hits. That’s less than Muzzin and only slightly more than dermott even though Dermott has played significantly less games. Manson’s CF is less than 50%. Every Leaf player you are suggesting has a positive CF%. For a Leaf team that plays possession style hockey, I think that is more important than hits. Talk it up all you want, there is no way Dubas would ever make this extremely lopsided trade that heavily favours Anaheim.
