I like this deal. toronto may have to add something or pay some of ceci cap hit but overall a good improvement.

Quick thought. Due to the expansion draft next year leaving guys like bracco, liljegren, sandin off the roster this year seems to be a smart idea. that's why marincin, gravel, harpur, spezza and shore have all been added to the team. one more year in minors for higher end prospects seems to be strategy of Leaf management his year.

Same term and aav very close. I would much prefer brodie over ceci. Think Calgary would feel the same way though.

That’s what I thought too, but apparently second year NHL players are exempt from the draft as well. I thought it was only first year players, but someone on site corrected me. I don’t know. Maybe something to look into later.

Very good point leafgm. was not aware always thought theyd have to be protected if played a year. my thought process on this season continually changes.

Sure looks like 2nd year players are fully exempt to me too. Guess we were wrong. I hate it when that happens. Lol.

All 1st and 2nd year players are exempt. So neither Liljegren or Sandin even if they come up can be taken in the expansion

That may have been part of the reason to keep both in the minors last year.
