With the new deals for Kerfoot and Ceci, the team is looking like it is nearly complete now. Marner is the only RFA to sign :) As long as Marner signs for $10.5M or less, the Leafs should be good

Sign Marner 6 years $9.75M AAV, this is an improvement from the Leafs rumored 8 x $10M deal

The Leafs could still look to add a depth RHD

To MTL: F - D. Timashov + 2020 6th

To TOR: D - N. Juulsen

Ceci just signed for 1 year 4.5. Will leave 8.5 mil in cap space after hortons contract gets buried to resign marner? Hope dubas has something up his sleeve high anxiety for leaf fans right now.

As per Capfriendly, the Leafs have too many players, some will be sent to the Marlies clearing up the $700K per player etc. There is room based on what I have calculated.

LEAFS should they keep 20 players, than they would have after the payment of Ceci and Kerfoot over $11.726 MM. Leafs would be utilizing the full LTIR.

So Marner is not going to be an issue if someone offer Marner, the same amount as Panarin for 7 years.

Lets say Mitch signs 3 years $8 MM. The Leafs would have $3.726 MM to spend this year.

Ceci + Timashov to the Blue Jackets for Savard.

I like what you're saying with that deal. I think the Leafs will be stuck with at least to start with Ceci though. The cap hit is high as he was overpaid in Ottawa and his qualifying was too high.

Honestly I think dubas has all the power in this marner situation I mean if he can’t sign him before training camp I’m betting dubas will try and trade him I don’t think marner will do what Nylander did last year after he saw the results and he forsure isn’t going to sit out for the year worst case scenario he gets offer sheeted the leafs either hold onto the picks or use them to replace marner.

Is Marner worth more or less than Panarin though L1994? I mean, Panarin is widely regarded as top fine wingers in the game. Has Marner already reached a level that compares him to Panarin? I don’t think so. I think Marner has much left to prove. The comparison with Kucherov is more apt. Panarin has nothing left to prove, while Marner has to demonstrate he’s not a one-hit wonder, but is indeed a top 5 winger in the league, putting him in the same league as Panarin and Kucherov, who both made huge bets on themselves and won big. Is Marner wanting to do the same?
