What would it take to get Cerelli from Tampa?

Cirelli has a no-trade contract and I don't think he would waive to come here. He earns $6.25 million in Florida and his take home is $4 million approx. His take home here would be $1M less.

Suffering is right. It’s roughly a million less. But if he’s getting paid in USD the exchange compensates for that loss if he lives here. That would be $4.2m CAD. I’m sure it’s something these players consider as well when coming to Canadian teams. He’s an Etobicoke boy so I’m sure grew up a Leafs fan for sure.

But the price wouldn’t be cheap. He’s a really good player. Would be our 2C for sure. It would cost u prospects and a first rd pick for sure. Then u would have to add someone to make the money work. Maybe add Joshua to eat up $3.25m of cap ??. Would love this guy.

I like Cirelli as well, but I'm assuming Tampa would want a replacement back unless they had some kind of 3 way trade on the deal for Larkin.

What I am saying is if he earns his money in Florida and is taxed there and clears $4 million U.S. and converts it to Canadian funds at the end of the year to move to his Canadian bank. Or if he clears $3 million U.S.

while earning it in Canada and converts it to Canadian dollars at the end of the year. He is still coming up $1M U.S. a year shy by playing here and other provinces and higher taxed states.

To answer your question, probably Cowan and a 1st, or Cowan and Kolbar, maybe Cowan and Danford. I like the trade, but I think we could go one level higher as far as quality player we’d be getting for the package Tampa would ask for.

@Suffering I think the argument is if I gave you 30% more in CAD vs USD you'd be ok with it.

They seriously underestimate cost of living as well though.

A million dollar home in Texas and a million dollar home in Toronto are not equal.



After exchange rate maybe you're happy? But really it's still a lot less money as you said.

1 million less in USD is 1.3 million less in CAD while we also have a much hight cost of living in every province.

Cirelli would take Cowan + 2027 1st + 2028 2nd ++, I wouldn’t do it though.
