Leafs need a defensively responsible 3C & Utah could use some more goal scoring.
I would rather try for someone younger like Hayton as opposed to FA Jenner.

I think JT is our 3C. He’s great defensively and his faceoff percentage is near the top of the league.

What would it take to get Durzi in that deal? Just Reilly? Maybe add a Quillan or mid draft pick?

I’d do the trade but Imo Tavares is still 2C in this lineup.
Hayton will need to earn it but hasn’t yet done so.

Tavares is horrible defensively, but still does have enough offensive pop to play 2C for one more season. I don't see a good 2C fit without giving up higher roster players or higher prospects, so Tavares plays 2C this year IMO.

I have no desire for Stanley or E. Kane, but I do like Arvidsson and Greer.
If Chayka can come up with a package to include Durzi as well, then all the power to him. As for me, I don't want to touch Cowan or Danford.

100% agree, Tavares is horrible defensively.

Yes, Tavares still plays 2C, and we play Hayton at 3C to form some form of shutdown line and take those match ups away from Matthews.

Hope Chayka can make this happen. It would be nice to get a 26 year old defensive 3C, who has shown some sort of offensive pop as well.

Get realistic as Hayton has higher value than Robertson and Reilly for Durzi? Utah would laugh their asses off! Reilly is not considered by any team right now to be of high value!
That’s why Chayka has not traded him! Leafs have over 22 million in cap space since Carlo has been traded.


They will take a serious run at Rasmus Andersson. Then they will take a run at Werenski. Knies will be part of it as long as Werenski agrees to sign an extension next year when eligible. Werenski and Matthews are good buddies.

@Tags this team needs some toughness. If we don’t get an equivalent of Stanley or Kane we will be bullied all year. Like said on here many times, need tough Gius and the stars play better. Matthews had 60 goals while Reaves was in the lineup.
