Here’s my Knies proposal

Tor: Knies, Carlo, 1st 27, 2nd 26
Nyr: Fox Trochek and 5th overall

Leafs take Mckenna and Carls; now the blueline is rebuilt and set for years to come and they get a two-way centre to boot.

Is it too much or too little?

To Leafs: 2026 - 5th overall, Trocheck, Lafreniere, Schnieder.

@wb49 To me I’m not making a trade where I hope players turn into good players such as Laf. He has been very average. Schneider is an ok player, but again if the Leafs are moving Knies, blow me off my feet.

Also, Rangers are in kind of a rebuild so moving young guys won’t make a lot of sense. Fox is 27; he doesn’t fit the window anymore. That’s why he my target.

I agree, Goat! Like 5OA Greentree Cuylle and Fox or Schneider and maybe we’re on to something. Otherwise we keep Knies and other guys.

@goat You are right, and Greentree is a stretch in the return but Knies is a foundational peice to build around most likely their future captain. I’m saying blow us away or we’re keeping him. The initial trade doesn’t do that.

Really hard to judge Knies trade value imo. I think it is very much about which team it is acquiring him is dependent on what a team might pay. You're asking for a 27 year old Norris winning, point producing top pair D-man, the 5th OA and their 2C.

They get a top pair winger, 2nd pair D, a mid/late first next year and a late 2nd this year. That's a lot of value put on Knies as it's like Knies and the 2nd for Fox and the 5th OA and Carlo and the 1st for Trochek is my guess value wise?

Greentree is one player I would be hesitant on. 2 years ago he put up crazy numbers almost 2 points a game and over 2 in the playoffs. This year as a player who turned 20 he put up 1.4 per game and 1 point a game in the playoffs. So what changed? Teams adapted and in the playoffs especially they realized he is slow. So basically the dmen started pushing to the outside knowing he was to slow to accerate around them.

It’s why he barely saw the ice in the 2 round Robin games at the WJC he played in. L.A apparently didn’t see the development and dominance they expected with him going back to Junior as a very old overager, so they didn’t fight hard about giving him up as compensation to get Panarin.
