Draft day trade prop
Tor: pick #60, 1st 27
Stl: pick #15
Then hope a Rudolph falls or take best available. The Blues have 3 first this year; they might be willing to part with 15 for an extra first next year.

Doesn't sound like too bad of a deal, but we might want to keep next year's draft pick for next year. Don't want to get too far ahead of ourselves.

I don't believe we own a first in 27, Philly does.

I would actually like to hang onto that COL 1st. They're getting old down the middle, and if they miss the playoffs next year for whatever reason, then they might be over the hill and surrendering a top 10 pick by the time '28 comes around.

Actually, from where I’m at, and by all means correct me if I’m wrong, but Philly has our pick 2027 Boston and our pick 2028 or vis versa depending how the league sorts it out. The Colorado pick, because it was acquired, is ineligible for a trade not directly involved in the transaction.

FrensUnited, you can’t be serious. You really think a Presidents Trophy winner with all the fire power they got is going to miss the playoffs next year. I want what u r ???? cause it’s gotta be the bomb ?????

The Colorado pick can be traded to anyone with no restrictions other than the top 10 protected has to stay intact.

Yes, but Philly nor Boston are entitled to it as they own our 2027 and 2028 1st pick correct?

They own "Our" first round pick in those 2 years. Not any picks we obtained from any other team. When we made the Trades with Boston and Philly it was stated the picks would be our own from those years. Not an obtained pick that never existed at the time of those trades being made.

I guess I should of clarified better but I don’t see the Avs taking a huge step back. There’s value in holding onto the pick forsure but if a good player drops this year I’d maybe take my chances a trade up

@Champ.
Pretty sure last year's President's trophy winner missed the playoffs this year, no?
With Kadri and Neilson entering their late 30s, there's a chance they have issues this year, especially if they Makar or MacKinnon get injured.

The Florida playoff was a combination of 2 things that I think other teams will learn from. Firstly, Barkov…. I get why they didn’t do the LTIR for the salary cap because they would not be able to use him if he was healthy for playoffs. The new CBA affected their decision. In retrospect, they know now making the playoffs going forward needs to be the goal first and foremost. So if that scenario occurred again, I think they and other teams faced with that decision woukd bring in somebody and utilize that LTIR cap space.
The other factor that caused them to miss (and contributed to more injuries) was not utilizing call ups earlier and more often in the season to rest players. They had played 68 playoff games in 3 years and it took its toll. These are lessons the rest of the league learned from, and Colorado’s management would most likely not get caught in the same scenario.
