Would you consider this?

To Pitts: Reilly, Robertson, 3rd rd pick?

To Tor: Karlsson (10M, 2.5M retained =7.5M x2 years), Brazeau @ 1.5MX 2

Or am I way off here?

I Like Brazeau, But Karlsson is needed in Pittsburgh with Letang slowing down, even with his hefty contract. Dubas has always liked both Robertson and Reilly though.

How does this one sound. We trade them Reilly and retain $2.5 and Robertson as well as Mcmann who might sign with the GM who signed him as a undrafted player and gave him his start in the NHL as well as our 3rd round pick this year. In return we get Pittsburghs 1st in 2026, Brazeau who is a big serviceable player and Harrison Brunicke who is going to be a stud on Defence.

We get a great prospect who didn't look out of place in games in Pittsburgh or in the AHL and is Looking fantastic in Kamloops. He was a shotblocking and hitting machine at the WJC's this year. The only reason he is back in Junior is to get major minutes and Kamloops has a good shot of going far in the Playoffs.

Sorry I meant to add that with Sid being in Pittsburgh and with Robertson going there it allows Pittsburgh to make a crazy offer to Jason Robertson as a UFA. They have the draft picks to make it happen whether it is just under the 11,700,192 or over the 11,700,183 and they will also have the cap space to do it. Maybe Dallas works out a deal with Pittsburgh before the deadline on that front. Or somehow a 3 way with Leafs, Dallas and Pittsburgh could be worked on.

I’d do this Karlsson for the same price as Reilly for less term I’m in.

Yes Leafs GM me too. We only have him on books for 2 more seasons at 7.5M where as Reilly would be 4 more. I’d rather a 40 year old Karlsson over a 30-31 year old Reilly plus getting Brazeau? I’d be taking it plus it helps get our PP puck moving D until we develop one of our own.

@suffering stop suggesting trading McMann to me. It’s dumb, we will not get back a player of his value and a late 1st is not worth Bobby McMann. If it’s a retool, Bobby stays. If you’re rebuilding from bottom up then yes go get a 1st for him but they are not doing that. So don’t just move good players just for the sake of getting draft capital back.

Who said I was trading McMann for just the mid 1st round pick Clarky? He is for the 1st and the key to the deal to get Brunicke. A younger version of Chris Tanev with his shot blocking but also a very mobile defenceman. At 36 years of age Tanev if he does the groiin surgery may not play again for the leafs anyway we need to stock the cupboard now. Robertson is straight up for Brazeau and Reilly and eating 2.5 of his contract is just a added player to entice the full deal. And to open up cap room for the leafs.

I jcan see Pittsburgh adding Reilly because they need veteran depth on D but not if they have to give up Karlsson who actually is playing the best 2 way hockey he has played in his career. They would certainly want Toronto to eat part of Reillys contract. For them to give up their Power play quaterback and you to ask them to eat part of Karlsson's contract doesn't make sense for them to do.

P. S didn't you suggest trading Nylander and Matthews and others in a massive deal I did call you dumb? No I said the returns looked decent other than swapping a few pieces. Im just playing Devils advocate on this one. It has to make sense for both teams.

Depending on if they make the playoffs or don't that First round pick can be used for both a retool (Trading it and a player for a better player in the off season. ) or a rebuild by using the pick or Trading it and a player to move up the Draft board.

I think if they could land Brunicke that at least 2 of him and Danford and Chadwick will be stalwarts with the leafs and possibly all 3. I have never said McMann is a bad player but he is a good trade piece given the free agency thing. Plus I think Holinka is going to be a pleasant surprise for fans and open eyes at Training Camp
.

Not true Suffering I used the word dumb when you said you were retooling and then go on to trade McMann. If we are rebuilding and Moving Matthews and Nylander I’d be ok with trading Bobby for a 1st.
