Necas just got to Colorado, doubt they trade him. No need for Rielly anyways when they already have Makar and Toews.

Actually, Necas has expressed disappointment/ unhappiness with the way things worked out in Colorado after the trade.
There is the possibility of a trade if the right pieces are coming back to the Av’s.
I don’t know if the Leafs have anything that would interest Colorado but as a right winger, Necas would be the perfect fit in Toronto on a line with Matthews and Knies.

Not me WB. Necas reminds me of another Nylander, we can only have one of those on a team at a time. Very offensively gifted but gives up on plays too easy and is also soft. It’s like you’re trying to replace Marner with someone with similar toughness and less skill. I’d like a gamer, someone who will give it in playoffs and not afraid of some physicality.

I do agree that for his size (6’2”, 200lbs) Necas isn’t as physical as we might like.
Marner was credited with 49 hits last year while Necas was credited with 62.
Not a big upgrade.
The difficulty is, 1st line wingers with physicality are both few and far between as well as being in great demand making them almost impossible to acquire via trade.
You have to draft them.
Like the Flames drafted Bennett only to have Treliving trade him to Florida for a bag of pucks.
Of all the potential 1st line, RWs who might be available via trade, I felt Necas was the best.

Given the term and controlthat the AVS would be acquiring this would only work if Necas signed an extension as part of the deal.

This is still an overpay for the Leafs and we’d need more coming back (Middleton or a draft pick) or less (Danford) going that way.
