I think if Pittsburg is going to trade for a defenceman it will be a RHD since Letang and Schultz are hurt
Zaitsev for a second and a third seems fair (doesn’t matter what year they are in to me)

Any trade involving Giveaway is a good trade in my books.

I would make this trade too. Gardiner is worth more of course. But he’s way overstayed his welcome. He’s like an uncles you invite for Thanksgiving and is still there for Christmas. You want to get rid of him, but just don’t know how to kick him out gently, so finally you just grab all his crap and throw it on the front lawn and change the locks. You don’t get any presents back, but you don’t care, because you are so happy to finally be rid of the old man.

And that’s how Leaf Nation is feeling about Giveaway right now. Who cares if we even get anything back? It’s best to just give him away, like he does the puck every night, so we can all move on with our lives.

OK I get all the negativity but haven't seen where all of leafs nation wants him gone

Having said that, his cap hit would be prohibitive moving forward and he is unsigned. That makes the return less than what's possible

Bottom line: I would like Nylander signed. 6 years at 6.5. I would like to see Kadri go for that Dman. He also will become expensive and 4.5 is too much for a third line centre even now.

Gardiner. What a situation. Can't sign him for 6-7m as has been projected. So he leaves for nothing at Year end or we get some futures for him

Personally, looking at this team, I don't see a cup this year. That being the case, get your Pesce. Or whoever for Kadri and whatever else u need to give. Trade Gardiner for prospects and draft choices. Put new guy with Reilly. Put Dermott up with Zaitsev. Put Hainsey with a young guy. Next year Liljegren replaces someone. Maybe the year after sandin does the same. So.
