I would definitely be signing Matthews and Marner to full 8 year extensions. I would also give Kapanen longer term and reduce term on Johnsson and Ozhiganov.

I’ll let MarsBars and Jodes handle the rest. They are pretty astute at this type of stuff. Lol.

I don’t think leafs can afford to do that though, Marner will likely want 9 mill if it’s 8 years, Matthews will for sure want 12+, Kapanen will want 6 mill if it’s long term, but ya Ozhiganov I think should sign for less with less years, so I’m ok with that, and if Johnsson signs a two year deal for 1.5 mill or less, that’s a steal for the leafs.

Year 6-8 are UFA years so the longer u want them you r paying a higher premium for those UFA years.

A 2 year deal costs a high premium also as team is taking no risk
3-5 years is called a bridge deal and the longer the bridge the less per year u pay

RFA contracts can't sign NMC NTC until that 6th season .

Matthews 8x13 seems legit
Marner 7 x 9 seems ok
Kapanen 5x5 on a bridge deal

sounds pretty close, i'd say! other then, i think lindholm will be around he's pretty good at being in the right spot, he just has to figure what to do with the puck lol, hell get better each year and he stays on as a 3/ 4 center/ wing. just my opinion.
