Why Faulk? We only really need one RHD to come in until Liljegren is ready. Bringing in Faulk is a bit of overkill. Carolina has the players they could trade both these guys, but do we really need them both?

To be honest, I don’t really think Carolina would have any interest in Gardiner. He is pending UFA and won’t be re-signed by a Carolina team that is swamped in defensemen. So unless they flip Gardiner, they just traded two years of Faulk for one year of Giveaway, who they in turn lose for nothing.

That’s a pretty solid d line up for now. Can always trade Faulk later when Liljegren is ready but that would definitely improve the defensive side.
