With Ellis and Subban signed for at least 4 years, the Preds' Top 4D is set for a while. Josi is UFA in 2 years and they're LD prospect pool is light. Do you think Fabbro could be available in a year or two due to their Top-4 RD being solidified, potentially hurting his development?

Preds:
Dante Fabbro

Leafs:
Sandin
Brown
2020 3rd Round Pick

Fabbro can turn Pro whenever but I'm sure he is waiting until the most beneficial situation arises (ie an immediate Top 4 role). I think Fabbro has the making of a stud and is NHL-Ready in my opinion.

Of note is his rights could potentially expire August 15, 2020 if he finishes his degree and doesn't go pro before that. Would you rather be more patient and wait to nab him for free? Could be another Vesey situation for Poile.

Leafs potential Top 4 D in 2-3 years:

Rielly - Fabbro
Dermott - Liljegren

The logjam on Nashville's would only come into effect after Fabbro's ELC expires, so it would more than anything depend on Fabbro's thought process I would think. The Preds would have to be nuts to turn down that package for him, but at the same time I'd see it as an overpayment, unless of course Jedi Master Dubas really wanted him. I trust everything that man does at this point.

I like it. And if Preds would even consider it, Leafs should pull the trigger on a deal like this. We have Reilly and Dermott for years to cover our LHD, which means Sandin would only ever be at best 3LHD, so if Leafs can move him now in order to shore up RHD, it is worth pursuing. That makes Zaitsev expendable in a couple years.

Says the guy who posts trades involving half the leafs team to other teams for players that were just signed a year ago to a long term deal. And if Gardiner and 2 prospects can fetch Panarin in your posts, to say this proposal is not even close would be ridiculous, as Panarin, 1yr of control or not would be worth more than just puljujarvi (who hasn’t quite bloomed as expected yet) and Bouchard (who is a strong prospect) (most leaf 33)

Gilmour93- if they would be willing to make a trade for Faulk, who Carolina says they aren’t trading. Why would they not consider Gardiner. As he is the only one of the 2 to have a 50 point season under their belt, and when he is on the ice, the leafs are actually noticeably better. Granted when he makes a mistake it’s noticed, but that is due to his offensive style play. Over their careers they have almost identical point totals but Gardiner did it in one less season, and for some years, a much worse team.

Too much for Fabbro. He has not played in the NHL. He does not have much more value than Sandin at this point.
