Staal is actually signed for five more years @ $6M, so that’s $30M off the Canes books. I don’t think Carolina would make this trade. Even on a bloated contract, Staal is more useful to them than any of the players you are sending back. Maybe offer them a player or two who actually plays in the NHL. Lievo, Brown, Carrick, guys like that.

I personally don't think Myers would cost Nylander but even if it did. Why in the world would you trade for a d man who has 1 year left on his contract? He's also battled with injuries his whole career.

Marquesboy I guess you think that resigning players is not permitted in the nhl. And Myers played 82 games in 2017-18. Last time I checked 82 games equaled a full season. Matthews missed time too I guess that makes him injury prone?

Blizzard I see your comments all the time about space cadet gardiner and laugh. if Dubas had any brains he would move him at the draft for a 1st rd pick and a top d prospect. Leafs have Morgan Travis to move the puck and Zaitsev if Babcock would get a clue and let him play his game.

Why bother trading Nylander for Myers to allow Jets to re-sign Trouba? It makes more sense to try and sign Trouba ourselves. Why should we do Jets any favours?

What makes you think we'll easily just sign Myers when the time comes? And difference between Matthews and Myers is that we drafted Matthews, he cost us nothing. Let alone the fact that he's a franchise centremen. Myers is injury prone and you're wanting to give up a core piece for him. That's the difference bud.
