Doughty, a franchise defencemen would probably ask for all from Arizona. then we're talking about a franchise CENTREMEN who's only 20 years old and will have a minimum of 9 more years to play for that team .

Domi is currently a 3rd or 4th line winger, not a Center anymore, little value

The only decent piece is:
Chychurin is a youngster with top 2 potential and that is not near enough for Matthews. And you are also throwing in gardiner?

Under RFA rules, if another team were able to make an offer to Matthews and poach him from the Leafs, the compensation would be four first round picks, so a trade package including Matthews should have at least four first round picks or high caliber prospects. Gardiner is worth a first round pick/ prospect. So now we are talking about a package of five first round picks or the equivalent in prospects.

Hacksaw’s trade proposal seems closer to the real value. I tend to agree with his assessment of this trade too. OEL is way overrated, Domi sucks, Chychrun is a question mark. I wouldn’t accept this offer.

A may be a little light on return. Trade was contingent on signing Tavares

But a Leafs lineup with:

Tavares
Domi ( definitely not a 4th line player, he had an off year)
Chychrun and OEL on defence will go much farther then with Matthews and Gardiner.

Anyway again, if you think the Yotes would give up all those pieces + two potential lottery picks. I think your much farther off then my proposal. Especially with Keller in there.

If there was a rift between Babcock and Matthews, then I would get rid of Babcock because he talks like a turd. The only reason why he won anything as a coach is because he had all-star teams in Detroit and at the Olympics/ World Cup of Hockey. Matthews is your cornerstone forward you don't ever consider trading a franchise centre.

I do think Coyotes would give up that much for Matthews. The trading cost in Matthews is extremely high. He’s easily met all expectations, and possibly even better. This man is a franchise player that will probably be our next captain. Leafs will be building the team around him.

Neither Hacksaw’s or Jminn’s proposal are appealing enough to me to trade Matthews. Hacksaw’s proposal doesn’t include a number one center to replace Matthews, unless it’s the much smaller and less talented Keller, which doesn’t seem right to me. In Jminn’s proposal, Tavares is brought in. I’d rather have Matthews then Tavares. Matthews is the younger and superior player.

Neither OEL or Chychrun have accomplished much in Arizona. OEL in particular has a rather concerning and persistent +/ -. Chychrun is young, and the potential is there, but he is not a top line defender. Expecting him and OEL to accomplish in Toronto what they couldn’t do in Arizona seems a little much.

Jminn has two LHD on top line, 2 LHD on second line, and 2RHD on third line. I’m not convinced that is the best arrangement.

Domi really does have cement hands, and Keller would have to be relegated to third line duties after Kadri and Nylander (? ) .

Any draft picks are gambles and highly unlikely to accomplish the successes of either Matthews or Tavares.

Trading Matthews and Gardiner for much of Arizona’s team and future doesn’t appeal to me. Arizona doesn’t have a very good team, and there aren’t many players I would like from there.

Yes most knowledgeable hockey people would agree that the yotes would have to give up that package of mine to land Matthews.
And your logic makes no sense “contingent upon signing Tavares” has absolutely nothing to do with the package you get for matthews.
Get a clue.

Already said my proposal was light.

Definitely contingent on Tavares because if he didn't sign with leafs, they would never trade Matthews.

Just having fun throwing out ideas. I think Matthews is great. Don't be too serious Hacksaw.

Nylander I disagree with your assessment of Babcock. He is a great coach.

Lol blizzard. I actually don’t mind gardiner. but I do think there are better options than him. he will fetch a fair bit in a trade. a first and a prospect I would take.
