I would actually keep Komorov . just missed him among the talent.
Tanev a great shut down option imo.
Would improve on Hainsey, Polak better if healed up.
Lose Hainsey and upgrade . if they could pry Trouba from jets. solid.

Until Nylander signs his extension they won't consider him at centre . Throw an extra milly a year to his contract if so . Resigning him as a "rw" role instead of C will give them the better chance at a more 'friendlier contract 'when pen hits paper . Then they can play him with his 6-7mill contact at centre and after Bozak is gone.

I would rather modify the deal and trade JVR and Bozak for picks, especially if the return for JVR includes a 1st rounder and a second for Bozak.

Then I would stay patient, draft two players in the first round while continuing to develop from within the organization.

In a years time, Liljegren should be ready to make this team. If Dermott doesn't make the team this year, then include him as well with Liljegren. Who knows what this years draft might yield.

Good organizations build their defence from within. Just look at some of the past champions:

Pitts - Letang, Pouliot, Maatta
Chicago - Keith, Hjalmarsson, Seabrook, Byfuglien
LA - Doughty, Forbort, Martinez,

Coincidence? I think not. With a little patience, the Leafs will accomplish the same.

They only have two years of cheap Mathews and Marner and one of Nylander. next year, D will be no issue, expect for the shut down guy they would still need
. so I think they have to upgrade from within where ever possible this year.

which on d is maybe Deromot or Neilsen. or maybe Rossen surprises . but they still need to trade for a top shut down dman, Chris Tanev perfect. Then the cup run in 2019 has Tanev, Reily, Gardiner, Rossen, Lindjgren, Zeitsev . Carrack is 7. I flip picks and mid prospect (s) and get Tanev as base shut down dman.

agree with idea of signing Nylander as wing and then flip. However they are crazy strong up the middle with him as centre, I'd ask him for a deal where he can win one or two cups in 4 years, knowing Matthews etc, 3 yr extention at 5Mm. If the cups come his money somewhere else goes way up.

As do endorsements etc, got to lose JVR and Bozak money as $$ upfront is not well spent with the young forward depth this year, Leivo, Kapenen, Bozak is minus d way too much .

i'd rather see Tanev, better team d, Dermott to step up, . hope Leivo can replace a lot of JVR production. plus Kapenen solid cheaper replacement production. Sign Nylander as above, and use him at centre, they're would be no better centre depth in the league, vastly improved defence with 3 solid pairings .4 solid lines to roll with interchangeable scoring and tougher parts. pk, PP, vets, youth and speed with both.

Solid stater and hope Mcilerny? Can backstop. Sounds cup-ish to me. Ticker thought the year and next year. got to be some fabulous hockey coming our way regardless.
