To LEAFS: Manson and Bieksa
To DUCKS: Soshnikov, Rychel and 2nd

Solves Ducks cap issues and expansion issues. Deal contingent on Bieksa waiving his NMC or we buy him out prior to expansion draft if he wants to re-sign in Anaheim

So if Bieksa gets traded does the NMC vanish, because if not this trade jus mean a we likely lose Carrick or Manson.
Cuz the Leafs will protect Rielly and Gardiner and will have to protect Bieksa.
So, no, not a good trade. Essentially you're trading away Sosh, Rychel and a 2nd for Bieksa and the risk of losing Carrick or the most recently acquired, Manson.
Didn't think that one through enough Austin.

Ducks say no but good idea. Manson has been good in the playoffs.

No I mentioned that bikes a would have to waive his nmc. Leafs protect rielly, Gardiner and Manson.

No I did mention that the trade would be contingent on bikes a waiving his nmc. Leafs protect rielly, gards and Manson. Possibly lose Carrick but we're losing someone anyway. Carrick maybe goes but saves leivo or someone else.

Manson has been good, I want him patrolling our right side for just that reason. Ducks have to do something. If they choose Manson over Vatenen I'd probably look to Minnesota instead.

You're basically trading Sosh, Rychel, a 2nd and Carrick than. For Toronto to trade for a D before the expansion draft makes absolutely no sense. UNLESS they're including Carrick in the trade, I don't think they're prepared to give up Carrick for free.

I disagree. I'm not that high on Carrick. And they don't lose him for free. They gain the player Vegas would otherwise have taken (if they value Carrick more)

Deals to mitigate the expansion draft problems for the Leafs.

1) Vegas Deal for a Player:
Lou needs to make a deal prior to the expn draft with Vegas. They agree to take a player (s) for a small exchange of picks. This deal will be binding and leave the Leafs free to pluck from other teams.

2) A Deal to sign a UFA:
The Leafs and Vegas and a Leafs UFA, could agree to sign; Leafs waive negotiation rights before the season ends to make the deal happen) . The agreement would count as the pick; leaving the Leafs free to pluck from the other teams. (I'm not entirely sure this is legal)

3) Trade Gardiner:
The Leafs could trade away a top 3 Dman. (Note: if Rosen and Holm are signed we are saturated on the LHD) .

As an example: They package Gardiner (his value is currently high) and another player for Trouba. Still leaves them at 3 Dmen to protect. It addresses the problematic LHD issues for Winnipeg, and the void at the #4 spot for the Leafs.

4) Go 8 Skaters:
a) trade for an extra RHD; trade away several young non-exempt forwards for one exempt quality RHD prospect or a first round pick.

b) Then sign or trade for a young quality RHD and protect him as the 4th D. (If the other team requires a qualifying DMan use Marincin or Marchenko as part of the bargaining - Wow! They finally have value) .

You would protect JVR, Kadri, Brown, and one of Rychel, Leipsic, Leivo, and Smith.

This leaves Bozak, Leo, Martin, and the remainders open for the draft - it assumes they are not desirable to an expansion team, and that because of their age, they are expendable. Losing one of them will not crush the Leafs.

5) CULL, CULL, CULL:
Trade quantity for quality and leave nothing left to pick. This culling will happen in due course anyway. Best to do it now, while it aids in avoiding the expn. draft cost; and it is possible for teams like the Leafs.

6) VEGAS FARM TEAM:
a) Help stock their farm team will all levels of players. They will be starting from scratch. We have excess at all levels. Similar to Lou's 5 for 1 with the Islanders; We would get draft picks in return. (Better for the Leafs before the draft; as one of the players can count as the draftee) .

(b) Maybe a 3 way trade netting the Leafs a RHDman and some picks, and doubling the number of farm hands going to Vegas. The trade would include the draftees for the Leafs and the other team. A big complicated trade, but do-able for all 3 teams involved as we are dealing with minor league contracts and ELC's.

7) No! He's a Forward:

For the next draft list everyone as forwards except the top 3 and Dmen you don't care about.

Okay that one's a little wacky, but would be funny.
