**BLOCKBUSTER FAIR TRADE**

JETS:
JVR(LW), Gardiner(LD), Liepsic(LW), Bibeau(G)

LEAFS:
Trouba(RD), Connor(LW), Comrie(G), and 2nd Round(2017)

Key points on how it benefits for each side

- Leafs are weak on (RD) depth position and Trouba makes up for it in the long term. At the same time, Jets get a very offensive who's reaching to prime(LD) in Gardiner since Jets have a strong depth in (RD) position and Trouba wants to be in top pairing long term which leafs are currently in need and a perfect fit.
Win-Win situation

- For the current age group of rebuild, I don't see JVR sticking around with the leafs and with him leaving that team creates a huge gap on (LW) position and needs a young top (LW) which is Connor for the long term. For Jets, they get a big offensive veteran who compliments the young guns in their organization plus his salary cap is attractive.

- Leafs get a young promising goalie in their depth system and can be a potential future starter goalie in which leafs are in desperate need. For jets, they get a instant starter in Bibeau for AHL long term or a long term backup goalie in Jets since they are riding with Hellebuyck as their main and goalie of the future, he's also a big guy like Hellebuyck.

- Leafs don't need Leipsic because Leafs have too many small skilled forwards and chances of having him to crack the into the Leafs roster is very unlikely. Jets benefits from him because he's a young skilled prospect who's got good potential.

- Leafs get a 2nd rounder in 2017 as it's meant to even/sweeten up the overall trade because giving up Gardiner and JVR are huge pieces. That 2nd rounder should not bother the Jets because the draft isn't like the last two years of drafts, plus the Leafs should be wise to draft a Talented goalie, (RD) guy, or a big center with that pick.

Overall speaking, I think its a perfect trade. Let's see what y'all think.

Although I like the trade, I don't think the Jets would like Gardiner per se or else I think this trade would have happened or at least a smaller one with Trouba and Gardiner.

The Leafs probably need to trade prospects to acquire a decent younger LHD to swap to WNG for Trouba

To PHA: F - B. Leipsic + D - T. Dermott

To TOR: D - S. Morin

then

To WNG: D - S. Morin + F. J. Bracco + 2018 3rd (SJ)

To TOR: D - J. Trouba.

Jets are trading Myers not Trouba and they would want a good goalie. They already have Wheeler Laine Ehlers etc
And don't need JVR. Leipsic doesn't fit their size. Gardiner is not good at all on d.

I find it hilarious that someone with the screen name 'cheeseburger phil' is evaluating a players ability to play defence.

The Jets do not fit the requirements for the Leafs to trade with. Anaheim does. Last I checked, the Jets suck and won't make the playoffs. Too bad Laine had to be wasted there.

JVR would work well on any team, and after the Perrault (28pts) the next best is Lowry (21pts) . Matthias (12 pts) is all but done and slow. All of which; JVR (49 pts) is much better and more talented. Elhers is their only good player on LW at 54 pts and he's a flyweight; meaning in the playoffs he'll be up against it. JVR would do great on the 2nd line with Scheifele and Laine.

Their weakness down the left side on defence and LW is what is keeping them out of the playoffs. Enstrom and Stuart are done.

That is actually too good a deal for the Jets to refuse. The Leafs however are getting shorted. Trouba's not that good, Connor is a light weight and has proved zero in the NHL like Leipsic, Comrie can't handle the AHL, and the only good part is the 2nd.

So the Leafs would refuse.
