This is a brutal trade. Leivo is nothing, JvR is a proven NHLer and an elite one at that a 30 goal scorer. What's Leivo done? More so, what has Montour done in the AHL to warrant that return. add Ritchie and a 1st because that's jus plain crazy. Montour hasn't proved anything at the NHL level.

Leivo hasn't been given opportunity and defence help is expensive. JVR was traded for Luke Schenn. Defenceman have more value than wingers. Oilers lost Hall for secondary defenceman.

Honestly, I don't know what the hype is about Montour and why he could fetch JVR + he's already 22 only 8 NHL games has same numbers as carrick in the ahl I'd rather keep jvr and see if Anaheim can give up one of their more proven defenders and If not just keep JVR.

Montour pt a game player AHL. Perfect age I say it's worth it moving JVR for him. Cost of defencenen very high. People keep saving Leivo is not good give him a chance he plays physical and can put up pts.

@Mackin, Leivo hasn't been given the chance because he doesn't deserve one, he is a true best a bottom 6 forward. Schenn was traded for Jvr when Schenns value was high based on his age and potential for JvR's injury problems. Edmonton didn't lose Hall they traded him for a piece they needed and he's a valuable piece in Edmonton, stable, physical and reliable D.
