Ottawa trades Craig Anderson

Toronto trades Marincin and Bracco

Reasoning: Leafs solidify back up/injury to Freddie also allowing Freddie to play less. Ottawa gets another d-man that knows JD Smith system, and a prospect who won't make the Leafs.

I’m starting to think Bracco won’t make the Leafs either. Timashov and Moore already made the team before him. On the other hand, I think if we trade him, it will be part of a larger package to bring in a top 4 RHD or another deadline acquisition of some sort. He isn’t worth much on his own.

Not sure how I feel about Anderson. Can we afford him with this deal? I didn’t check salaries. I suppose we can use Marner’s LTIR until he comes back. Gives us an idea of whether he fits or not.

Much like ryan miller, anderson has a 35+ contract which means he can't go anywhere without his permission. if anderson says yes then once he is not injured would be an amazing upgrade on the goalie backup situation.

Bracco will become someone leaf fans will miss once he is gone. if brown can succeed in ottawa than i think bracco can as well. very simular players offencively. bracco just needs to learn the 2 way game more and he is working hard at it. very much like brown had to when he was 21 on the marlies. brown just learned it quicker.

I don't think Bracco makes the leafs. He is a liability defensively even more than guys like Nylander.

Brown and Bracco are different in style as well. Brown can be an energy guy and play physically when need be. Rather have brown back than Bracco.

I would much rather have Brown back than Bracco too. Brown is doing pretty good in ottawa. I’m pretty sure they are happy with that trade, despite the fact Zaitsev is going back to Russia.

Simply put, I think Bracco can make the nhl, just not on the leafs, he is a little younger than the 3 rw ahead of him but won’t replace any of them (nylander, marner, kapanen) so unless he moves to center or lw he is a wasted asset.
