Good one OldTimer. Lol. It’s true though. Dropping Marner and Rielly for Lindholm and Rackell makes us much worse and the upgrade in goal (if you can call it that) and RHD isn’t near enough to cover the difference.

Manson I like. He’s got a bad rep with a lot of guys on this site, and I’m not sure why. It’s been repeated endlessly how much we need a big stay-at-home heavy hitting defensive defenseman, but if you suggest Manson, it seems like there are far more boo’s than cheers. Manson has played top line in Anaheim beside Lindholm for years. Anaheim is a team regarded as one of the best at drafting and developing defensemen. I can't see them making Manson their 1RHD if he wasn’t actually good enough. They would have kept Montour and dealt Manson if they didn’t feel comfortable. If Manson can play beside Lindholm and make Lindholm look good, then he is a more than adequate partner for Reilly. He would be a huge upgrade over Ceci, and at the same price. Seems like a no-brainer to me. If we can get Manson for the right price, we should do it.

Not saying this is a great trade for the Leafs though I feel it’s closer then reflected in the comments.

Thanks glimmo. I really like Manson. And what especially bugs me is that the same guys saying we should trade for him last summer, after he had that stellar season and came 14th in Norris voting, are the same people that trash him now simply because he had a bad year last season. The whole Anaheim team did. Pretty hard to blame just one guy. I think in a better team like the Leafs, his stats would be much better than they are on a lowly Anaheim team.
