So just looking at the leafs situation Kerfoot going to arbitration probably will get something close to what Kappanen and johnsson got which is ok but I think Ceci will not be with the leafs not with marner to sign so here's an option

Sign Ceci to the agreed term and money then

Tor: Ceci and a player like tymashov

To a team for a pick maybe a 5th or so

Then sign mcquaid to a 2y 1-1.5 mil

The Leafs can fit him and Kerfoot and Marner. If you look at Capfriendly you have to add the $5.3M that the Leafs gain for Horton. That is over $16M + the demotion of some players.

@torontobuds yes you are right we have about 16 mil in cap when you add hortons contract but here’s some numbers and let me know how the leafs do this

Marner 9-11 mil
Ceci 4.5
Kerfoot 3-3.5

Marner and Ceci will eat up basically the rest of our cap space you mentioned we would demote players just curious as to who anyone we demote will likely be on a league min contract 700,000 isn’t going to be enough I’m just saying instead of paying Ceci 4.5 mil when he hasn’t done much with his career is kind of foolish when you can easily add a cheap Defenseman who is probably just as effective.

It’s tight. I think Dubas has one more trick up his sleeeve though. Whether it’s a trade or some Orr of voodoo magic to sign Marner is anybody’s guess though. Maybe mph can shine up his crystal ball and see the future one last time?

It’s not running him out of town it’s called he’s the worse player out of the three and wants 4.5 mil idc if he plays for us or not I’m just saying the cap just doesn’t allow us to do it if he was making say 3 mil there would be no issue.
