Tor: Nylander
Det: mantha

Tor: kapanen Rosen
Car: Hamilton

So I'm going back to Nylander for mantha If you look at Yzermans track record he loves small skilled guys which the leafs have plenty of we need bigger guys mantha fits that and in my opinion he is poised to have a break out year after his performance at the worlds and we save cap dollars the second trade just makes sense for us we need a rhd

I actually thought we have a pretty good sized team. Most of the guys are over 6 foot and 200 lbs. The only players I could find under 6 foot is Ennis, Petan, and Johnsson.

Mantha is a good player, but I’m not sure I would trade Nylander for him. He had a pretty outstanding wWorld’s himself. He might be ready for his own breakout of 80+ points.

6 foot players aren’t very big in today’s nhl
And I understand that Nylander is good but I think the cap saving is more important right now we have bracco that can fill Nylanders role.

I don’t understand how you guys can value Hamilton the same trade value as Pesce. Pesce is younger, 5 years until expiry, and cheaper. Hamilton is good, but not much better than Pesce really, and is more expensive, and is only two years until free agency.

No doubt Carolina wants to keep Pesce and trade Hamilton. Pierre McGuire says a lot of things, much of just which isn’t true. More reliable source than me, sure. But I would still take his word with a bit of skepticism.

I think they are super close I think if you’re getting price leafs would have to add a pick because of his term left like you said but Hamilton is a top 4 d if we could get him cheaper than that’s great but I’d say a deal would look something like this.

Hamilton will cost you way more than Kapanen. I could see Carolina asking about Kadri.

You’re probably right. I don’t mind Hamilton. Though I think he’s just a great big RHD version of Gardiner. But I didn’t mind Gardiner either. I just wish Hamilton would throw the body a bit more. And that’s likely why he carries less value in my eyes than he does to others: he’s a bit of a defensive liability.

I would rather retain Johnsson myself. Just because of the difference in contract. In two years after Hamilton is gone, Dubas would be wishing he had Johnsson back. But hey, we all have our ideas of what we like. That’s why it’s fun to go on here and see what other people think. If we all agreed on everything all the time, it would get pretty stale fast.

Bracco to replace Nylander is a bit of a stretch. You would have to be really confident that Bracco, who is the same age as Nylander but has never played an nhl game, can step in and replace Nylander, who has played three full seasons in nhl and is proven 1RW who can also play center. I’m not so sure Dubas has that level of confidence in BRacco quite yet.

Pesce is a young Ron Hainsey. He’s just such a good player. No doubt Carolina wants to keep him and trade Hamilton. I don’t know if he has 1RHD potential. He would be playing 1RHD on our team because we don’t have better choice. But I kinda envision Pesce as a 2RHD, and not a true top line player. But I could easily be wrong. I’m a lot more wrong than I am right after all. Right?

I would take Nylander over Mantha anyday. The Carolina trade is fair, but I don't think the leafs will trade Rosen while Dermott is down.
