Leafs trade Marner
LA trades Doughty

Pretty straightforward. Marner goes to LA where he gets paid. Leafs get.

How much is Doughty getting paid, is it $11m. He had 45 points and was -34 last season. I wouldn't take him unless he was half price and certainly not for a young star. You would be doing LA a big favour.

A year ago you would have been saying something very different. Lol. Yes Doughty gets $11M. Since there is no cost savings, it’s not a likely possibility this trade occurs. I’d rather just give Marner the $11M.

Doughty is still considered one of the best in the game. 45 points is outstanding for a defenseman. It’s Doughty’s 4th highest point total. His +/ - is a reflection of the team in front of him more so than himself. I fully expect Doughty to bounce back. Same as Keith did last year.

I feel like this is a good trade for both teams. Kings can then start a rebuild going. Deal Carter, deal Kopitar, all within a year or so. Doughty to the Leafs would just be filthy.
