Leafs: Auston Matthews, Andreas Johnsson (and/or) Kasperi Kapanen, 1st round pick some year?

Edmonton Oilers: Connor McDavid, Jesse Puljujarvi

I know this would never happen, but it's kind of realistic and fun. It would also be insane. Leafs may get to keep one of Johnsson or Kapanen.

Idk if they do. that's some value. Mcdavid won't resign anyways in 7 years if they don't start making the playoffs.

McDavid might be available just at the same time Tavares is up? Maybe that could work out pretty well for us.

Looking at this proposal, it makes me think Leafs would be better trading Matthews for a group of high quality players, rather like what you are suggesting Edmonton does here with McDavid. I mean, let’s face it, would McDavid really make us better than all those other guys? Individually, no doubt he’s superior to any of our guys. As a package though, I think those three guys make a team a lot better than just McDavid (and Puljujarvi, Ha! ) . No one man makes a team.

McDavid to Leafs does have a lot going for it, for both player and team. We already have the supporting personnel to be able to make this trade and be able to maximize McDavids abilities. Edmonton does not. That’s why Tavares is breaking all his own, rather impressive, records this year. He has the best talent surrounding him he’s ever had in his career.

McDavid is a great player and I would love to see him in a Leafs jersey. McDavid has had his say and now its up to management to fix it. If the Oilers don't improve next year I don't know what will happen, but Mcdavid is not the problem.
