Good suggestion but ottawa isn't a team that will take on a ltir contract.

I think they would. Hortons contract is a "favourable" LTIR contract. Next season it will count for $5.3M in cap space, but only $3.6M in cash paid. Right up Ottawa's alley!

I like the proposal.

Ceci isn't the best, but he is an upgrade over Zaitsev. If he is willing to take 3 million for the next few years then maybe Dubas can re-sign him, and if not we can trade him in the off-season to a team that will be fine with taking him.

I think Dubas does this if you take out Borgman.

I’m going to have to play devil’s advocate here and disagree with all you guys.

Ceci is definitely not better than Zaitsev imo. It’s virtually unanimous among analysts that he is vastly overpaid and questionable if he is even an nhl quality player. Corsica has Ceci ranked 95th for his position, Zaitsev is ranked 78th. That’s a pretty large difference.

While I do like the fact that he can log a lot of mi utes and likes to hit, so can Alzner. And with a 43.3% CF score, that’s one of the worst in the league, Ceci would not be suitable for Leafs possession style play.
