First Trade

To LA: Samsonov ($3.55), 2024 - 3rd round pick

To Leafs: Matt Roy ($3.15)

Second Trade

To Arizona: Knies ($925,000), Liljegren ($1.4) Voit OR Tverberg, 2024 - 1st round pick, 2024 - 4th round pick

To Leafs: Lawson Crouse ($4.3), Andrew McBain ($1.6), Matt Dumba ($3.9)

Obviously money is an issue!
In: $9.8
Out: $2.35

Leafs could send back the expiring contracts of Brodie ($5, 10 team no trade) and Domi ($3)
$5 + $3 + $1.4 + $925,000 = $10.35 out vs $9.8 in.

If Brodie balks at being moved to Arizona for the rest of the season, Leafs could send back Kampf ($2.45) and replace him on the 4th line with Holmberg.
Arizona could retain the difference on Dumba's expiring contract.

Leafs resolve their 1st line, LW issue with Crouse.
Leafs resolve their 3rd line, center issue with McBain.
Leafs partially/temporarily resolve their RHD issues with Dumba and Roy though both are UFAs this coming summer.

Arizona receives native son Knies (huge upside and marketing bonus), a young RHD with upside in Liljegren, a "B" prospect in Voit or Tverberg and two draft picks, a 1st & 4th

Crouse - Matthews - Marner
Robertson - Tavares - Nylander
Bertuzzi - McBain - Jarnkrok
Gregor - Holmberg - Julien Gauthier (waivers)
Reaves waived

Reilly - Dumba
McCabe - Roy
Benoit - Liljegren
Giordano - Timmins

Zero interest in trading Knies. They will absolutely regret it.

No way Knies is to be traded.

I would hate to trade Knies too but I think the only way I’d do it is for Crouse and McBain. This would make our team much tougher to play against and Crouse is putting up decent points on that team that doesn’t have a ton of offence. But the money in and out is an issue. Need to find a way to incorporate Brodie to these deals or trade him separately to a contender with D on IR. (Devils for example) and hope to not use retention and get a 5th for him.
