The trade is just for fun it won't happen

What do you guys think of Jets signing

Scheifele
Hellebuyck

These two guys got $8.5 million x 7 yrs
That takes them both to 37 years old

I am on the fence with Scheifele getting that money but no way that goalie isn't broken down like Carey Price.is now. In three seasons Hellebuyck is broken down. Bad signings for both way too much term

Simply too much term.
Paying guys to play until they are 37 years of age is a recipe for disaster!
Personally if I was a GM I would not want players over 34 - 35 on my roster.
Even then only one or two of them.

Not a fan of either signing.

I don't view WPG as close to contention though. That's the real sticking point.

If a team like NJ signed He'll Boy to that age thinking "I'll get 3 years of vezina goaltending to win a cup", I'd be fine with it. I don't think either player is in the age range of the Jets.

Jets are about to be a disaster in coming years, and will have lottery picks for multiple years. Imo.

Too much term for both players. That's what it takes though to get players to stay in the peg.

I honestly think those deals were handed out largely for the optics of Winnipeg as a market showing it can retain quality players. I think the term is too long on both, and the $ is too high on Scheifle, but they are the Toronto Blue Jays / Raptors of the NHL…have to pay a premium.
