Trading Nylander for Pesce would upgrade Leafs defense but leave a huge hole on the right side of Leafs forward group.
In my opinion a RW would have to come back in the trade.
That’s why I previously proposed:

To Carolina: Nylander and Niemala
To Leafs Pesce and Seth Jarvis

As good as Marner is, I can’t see Calgary trading their #1 center for a RW.
That would leave a 1st line of Huberdeau -? - Marner.
No center for them to play with!
Seriously bad move for Calgary.

A big no to DeBrincat.
He is not a plus (+), two way player.
I have read that a trade with Detroit has already been worked out and now hinges on get DeBrincat to sign Ann extension.

@fan4life be realistic. Pesce is a top pairing D on a steal of a contract. Nylander is a top line winger, making more. Both have 1 year deals.

Straight up, that's a fair trade. Willy for Pesce.

@WB not a fan of Cat either. He's just Nylander.

He's put up goals and points, but he doesn't drive play the same way guys like Mathews do.

The difference between Nylander and DeBrincat was Nylander was a +10 this season while DeBrincat was a -31.
