Buf picks up a speedy forward signed for a reasonable cap hit for 2 seasons. They can always fill him next year probably for more than they would for Girgensons. Buffalo still needs some younger vets for their rebuild.

Leafs get a very good defensive C/W. Should help our PK and has good size. Should be hungry for playoff action after spending his whole career in Buffalo. Leafs get some cap space and a 4th to make up for value.

With kerfoot being owed 2.45 total over next 2 seasons vs girgensons 4.6 owed in same time span along with Buffalo not even being at the cap floor and kerfoot having 1.3 extra cap hit per year this is perfect deal for Buffalo. Not only do they save real money but it gets them closer to the floor without being forced to sign someone for a ridiculous contract to accomplish same thing.

Also with girgenson being out all of last year Buffalo might want the assurance of kerfoot being healthy.

It’s all risk for Toronto on this deal. They take in more money less cap but no assurance of a healthy player while Buffalo saves money gains NEEDED cap and gets a healthy player

In conclusion great deal but I think Buffalo adds a bit more.

What’s of more value Kerfoot cap space or Kerfoot and remember to another team he is a 750k player. I want to trade him and get the cap space and future assets.

Getting Gigensons for Kerfoot would be perfect IMO. I would put Girgensons left wing with Tavares and Nylander. He would be the net guy and defensive conscience of that line. I think he could put up 30+ points with them and help our PK and balance that line.
